Good question. I was wondering the same, but if I had to guess I would say it was a case of an Army recruiter who needed to make his quota and was willing to fudge a little on the paperwork to get a warm body.
It's happened before. It will happen again.

Diogenesis threads -- respect for our troops, blurry screen alerts, all.
Sleeping Soldiers
Let sleeping soldiers lie,
men who, while they snore and sigh,
dream about you
safe and warm
behind their armor and guns.
Let sleeping soldiers lie,
men who, as they say goodbye,
will always pack their gear and go
to where the danger runs.
Training hard, and laughing harder,
partaking of life's full larder,
a soldiers' lot is all for those
who think the cost is cheap.
Eager hearts, whose boldness longing,
with their fellowship belonging,
shoulder arms to hold your freedom
for such, never weep!
For gladly marching, to dreadful daring,
any price or burden bearing,
keeping such as you in safety,
loved ones wait to welcome home,
Heroes' triumph, victory gallant,
accolades for virtuous talent,
our best reward, to see you smiling,
stronger love than song or poem.

Thanks for another great photo collection! In the raid photo shot with a night vision device it looks like the troop on the left has a riot gun strapped to his hip.......it tends to give the wearer a certain degree of authority.

This poor guy Anderson had a lot of potential, maybe still does. Law enforcement has stopped him before his problems really killed anyone or did them any harm.
Whoever raised him has to answer for how he found Guns and then Mohammed before he ever found God or Jesus Christ.
A lethal combination.
Now only Jesus can help him, one hates to see a life utterly gone to waste like this, of course in the Mideast there are tens of millions...

He was a follower of Allah, right? I'm beginning to think that the armed forces need to weed muslims out of the services only because they are loyal to their own. Sad but rrue.

I agree. In fact, they have made it easy for us.
The recent case where a Iman told a Muslim that it was "legal" to lie when they take a citizenship oath because Islamic Law takes precedence over any oath proves that a Muslim's oath is worthless.
That being the case, they have no business in the armed forces and should be quietly but firmly escorted out.

The 8,900-tonne Maritime Self-Defence Force transport ship Osumi leaves the port of Muroran on the northern island of Hokkaido, Japan on Friday, February 20, 2004. Osumi and destroyer Murasame left for Kuwait on Friday carrying military vehicles and equipment for Japanese troops taking part in the country's controversial mission to Iraq.
