You will need to look into your state's election laws. If you vote in the Democrat primary you may not be able to sign a petition to put another party's candidate on the ballot.
If you haven't voted in a primary this election cycle (just registered as Rat), then you are probably okay.

Unfortunately the standard in my state (NC, 59,000!!!) is really high -- but Nader wouldn't make a difference here anyway.
This may be one of the states they write off.
Michigan and Indiana (30,000 each) are the ones to watch, as well as California (150,000).
