South Africa sent its deputy foreign minister to back the Palestinian case at the world court, arguing that the security fence was a bid to annex territory in the West Bank.
"It is not a security wall. It is a wall to enforce the occupation," lawmaker Aziz Pahad told the Court.
Pahad asked the Court to rule that the security fence violated international law. In 1971, the World Court ruled that apartheid South Africa's occupation of Namibia was illegal.
Pahad said that the 1971 ruling, which led to international sanctions against the National Party-led Apartheid government, contributed to the downfall of Apartheid in 1994.
"South Africa which was once a subject of this court is in the midst celebrating 10 years of our democracy. After centuries of division and conflict, South Africans found the political will to build a new democratic society," Pahad said.
"The fact that this court had the courage to pronounce on the legal consequences on the continued presence of South Africa in Namibia contributed to the achievement of democracy," he added.
The African National Congress (ANC), which came to power in South Africa at the end of white rule, was closely allied with the Palestinian Liberation Organization during decades of struggle against Apartheid rule.
Pahad told the court that it is unlikely that the barrier is temporary as Israel is spending about $2 billion on its construction.
In its written arguments, Israel claimed the court has no authority over the matter. It says the dispute should be resolved through negotiations, and that taking the matter to court will undermine the internationally backed road map peace plan.
Israel also says the barrier is a response to Palestinian violence, pointing to Sunday's suicide bombing in Jerusalem, which killed eight people, as proof of the need for the structure.

Maybe those in Africa should keep their opinions to themselves until they've cleaned their own house up.

If I'm not mistaken this is coming from a corrupt Govt. that has plans of White Genocide just as soon as Nelson Mandela croaks and doesn't even try to hide that fact.

How in the hell can an African nation or person tell Israel what is legal or illegal on their own soil?

How 'bout:
If the Palestinian Authority can't control its folks, then there is no point talkin' to 'em. If they can control 'em, they're in cahoots and should be destroyed.
Either way, the Palestinians and their "Authority" need to go. Preferably into the Jordan or the Med.

Any thoughts on the wall, the subject of the article?
Or are you content to just leave it as, "Drown all the Palestinians!"

"Must be something in the water." Indeed! And occasionally something comes out of the water and gobbles up an African!

Rampant corruption is illegal.
Blowing up children on a school bus is illegal.
A fence is a damn fine idea.

Africa, keep your mouth closed and go find the door. Since when is a country not allowed to try to protect itself? Does anyone remember why the Israeli six-day war started? As I recall, a few of the middle eastern countries decided to get ready to invade Isreal. I do believe that if I was surrounded by guys who didn't like my presence I'd definitely be trying to find a way to protect myself. So that's what they did.
They conducted pre-emptive attacks on those forces which were about to invade. If not, there would no longer be an Israel. If say they let the attack happen, how many people believe that the U.N. would have said, okay you bad arab guys, give Isreal back to ummm yeah the guys who lived there before. It doesn't matter if they're alive or dead, it has to be given back. I think not. There would not be a single person of jewish religion left alive there. We've all seen how firmly Arafat and his thugs deal with those in Israel. As many of these militant islamic groups as are there today, how many of their fathers and grandfathers died when they got ready to invade last time? How deep are the sentiments that "you killed part of my family so we will kill you". I believe that Israel has every right to do what it needs to protect itself. If it means a wall to keep suicide bombers and militants out, fine, then let it. If Isreal has to level Palestine to insure that it survives rather than being leveled, maybe it should.
I would really love to see how this wall "attacks" Palestine. Did someone hide some high tech gizmo that determines that someone of the wrong religion is too close and it will just zap them? Let's be honest. The wall is a barrier and is a defensive measure only.
