The Heinz Endowments [of Teresa Heinz Kerry] have teamed up with a secretive left-wing group

CHICAGO - Pittsburgh is home to a new liberal funding organization that lists its priorities as the local environment, land use and "sustainability." However, its affiliations raise questions about its real purpose. Known as the Tides Center for Pennsylvania, formerly the Tides Center for Western Pennsylvania, it is a creation of the Tides Foundation and Center, headquartered in San Francisco, and two Pennsylvania-based foundations -- the Vira Heinz Endowment and the Howard Heinz Endowment-- chaired by Teresa Heinz Kerry, heir to the Heinz food company fortune and wife of Democrat presidential contender Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

Teresa Heinz Kerry has financed the secretive Tides Foundation to the tune of more than $4 million over the years. The Tides Foundation, a “charity” established in 1976 by antiwar leftist activist Drummond Pike, distributes millions of dollars in grants every year to political organizations advocating far-Left causes.

This is where much of the money for all the little planned parenthood chapters across the country gets laundered through.

It is also where International ANSWER (the commie pukes led by Clark Ramsey) gets their funding.

Oh, and I can back this up with publicly available tax documents.

BTW, guess where this San Francisco-based "foundation" is located...

That's right, they took over The Presidio thanks to Bubba and the so-called peace dividend.

What makes the pairing with Tides troubling is that organization's secretive funneling of cash from private foundations -- such as Heinz, the Pew Charitable Trusts and many others -- to extreme left-wing activist groups whose interests include exclusion of humans from both public and private lands, anti-war protests, opposition to free trade, banning of firearms, abolition of the death penalty, unlimited abortion rights, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy, as well as and environmental extremism.

The funny thing is Republicans could set up organizations to run ads critical of Teresa Heinz Kerry's "philanthopic" interests and it would not be an "attack" on John Kerry. Since First Lady is not an official government position ads attacking her activities would not count as prohibited ads under McCain-Feingold, but it would cause people to question John Kerry's positions.

Sickening.

But there is no difference between the parties, and it doesn't matter if Bush wins. I know, because so many third party types have told me.

Ironically, that's the same thing the anarchists say. Drop out, stay home, don't feed the machine.

We've come such a long way in such a short time haven't we.
Have you noticed all of the Tides articles?
I sure have and it's a good thing.

If these pukes are funding organizations which methodically commit crimes, the victims of the crimes (businesses in Seattle?) can and should sue them. It sounds like they have really deep pockets...

Additionally, they're flirting with being designated a "Terrorist Organization" (THAT ought to send the Left into absolute paroxysms of howling indignation... in fact the designation would be worth it just to see them go berserk).

A lawsuit could demand disclosure of the foundation's records... subpoena a coven of leftist droids... I can hear Liberals yelling "BUSH ASHCROFT MCCARTHY WITCHHUNT FISHING EXPEDITION!!!" right now. (Music to my ears...).

"Tides and its dozens of its related organizations are about: money, a flagrant disregard for the truth, and even disdain for the law"

Yes .. this is more of what we need in the WH .. "a flagrant disregard for the truth, and even disdain for the law". I think I'm going to throw up!!

We need to keep stuff like this quiet until John Fonda Kerry gets the nomination, then hit him full-force.

You might be right. What we don't need is the Breck Guy getting the nomination and sucking in the dumb-downed masses with his "innocence" and "freshness" and "new ideas".

Not to speak ill of the dead, but I spoke ill of the Senator while he was alive.

I know some of his former DC staff. I think he was an SOB to be honest.

He was for sure a RINO, although those standards have certainly changed over the years.

In the end, literally, I will never understand why anyone would permit any pilots to perform close aerial maneuvers over a populated area. They should have done the gear check over an airport or a field someplace. He died because of it, but he also killed children in a school playground. Icarus couldn't have been filled with more hubris.

And yet, he gets the Paul Wellstone treatment.

Like I said, I'll never understand it.

Have any of you guys read Stolen Valor?

I heard the author on Michael Medved's show and a FReeper called in to say that he had been active here.

I know I've heard of the guy in another interview before, but I hadn't seen any of the FR discussions.

Thanks.

"Not to speak ill of the dead, but I spoke ill of the Senator while he was alive."

By those standards, I'll be able to speak ill of all politicians when they die. I'm like Archie Burnker -- I hate 'em all. Even the ones that I like.

Heinz was a RINO even then. As I recall he wasn't much better than a JFK or HHH. Of course, those guys are better than most of our current crop that just keeps getting worse.

When they die in office, the become saint's doncha know?

It's not at Northland library. I put in an inter-library loan request about a month ago. They estimate it should come to me in about another month.

Wouldn't you know it, I thought Heinz just made ketchup, pickles and relish & I never even thought of vinegar, so I accidentally picked up Heinz vinegar and didn't realize it til I got home.

Since the vinegar might be made in a foreign country at one of Heinz 57 factories overseas, I don't want to eat it & maybe get sick & it's too much trouble to bring it back to the store.

So to make a short story long, in case this happens to you vinegar is reeeally good for uncloggin sink drains and toilets, so that's what you can do if you buy Heinz vinegar by mistake.

The rebuttal of your posted article is put out by FactCheck...

For the sake of argument, let's check into background of the folks at FactCheck...to make sure they are free from bias.

Here's some background on one of the folks,Seth Goldman Researcher, Annenberg Political Fact Check

Seth Goldman earned his B.A. in political communication at George Washington University. He joined the Annenberg Public Policy Center in June, 2004 with previous experience as journalist, press relations assistant, and media researcher. He has worked at the Committee for a Democratic Majority and at Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's campaign committee. At GWU he founded and edited Sticks & Stones,   an independent, student-run progressive newsmagazine.

Here is a sample of Seth Goldman's writing -- showing his attachment to politically correct expression. (Of course, we are aware that "politically correct" debate is debate that is guaranteed to favor the liberal who is involved.)
