February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Just picked this up from the Mutterings discussion forum:

Listening To Quayle's Radio Broadcast-Sulfer In Water SW US?

From the desert SW, he says he is getting reports of strong sulfer smell in the well water.
And also said that the temp of the water coming out of the facets is 120 degrees.
TinFoil-Hats or Truth? Anyone here in the Desert SW area and is on Well Water? Please speak up.

Well -- there sure is a ton of interesting posts, news and chatter. Of course, we have been here before.

I give the following analysis with the caveat that I truly believe 72, 96, 192, and 50000, hours from now, we will still be just fine. But, if I am wrong, this might be the target, if not the time.

I am not aware of the President's travel over the next three days, but I believe the "raise your defenses" means they are coming after Bush where he lives, in DC. After all, DC is the heart and Capital of our Country and the free world. In addition, a strike here is a strike at all non-radical countries. After all, no Jihadists have an embassy here -- they are all outlaws.

Also, the threat of destruction to our cities is probably meant to mean a major city. This is also for recruiting consumption. Thus, our Capital and the home of our Government and President would be key.

Based on the chatter repeated here, I think the attack will involve a small nuclear device. (Fire and destruction would be consistent with this, and frankly they probably have not the means to deliver, on a widespread basis, a chemical attack.)

I did say earlier on thread three, that to maximize effectiveness, the strike would hit a City pre-afternoon rush, on a weekday other than Monday or Friday, to maximize death. That would make Thursday a prime target in the window of time.

So -- if they have such a weapon, the real questions we should be considering are its size and blast radius. My limited understanding of the likely weapons they posses are that they are "suitcase" in nature, and involve explosive power to a range of 8-10 City blocks. (That would be some unbelievable hit) I don't know much about fallout, aftershock, concussion waves, etc, but all those would have to factor in.

In my mind, the indicator or tip off might be one of more "major accidents" on significant arteries surrounding major metro centers such as DC. The smallest accident or bad weather can bring DC metro traffic to a complete halt.

More than once I have wondered if taker accidents or the like in the area are pre-events, meant to prevent mass evacuation.

For those of us in the close in burbs to these metro centers, we have to be concerned. Info on blast rates, coverage, fall-out, effect on motors and electricity, are all issues about which we better know. My home is 5 miles, as the crow flies, from Center of DC. (Effective tonight, we will have a car packed and a secondary westward route planned for escape, provided the survival of the blast. My goal will be to out run any fallout, assuming, as I think I am safe to do, that westerly prevailing winds will shield me somewhat, as I am due west from the City.)

Anyway, as I stated from the beginning, I am skeptical about all this, but I am smart enough to plan, and plan I will.

So -- what have we on blasts and fallout?

What's with all the #1600 in that message? I hope it is just a HTML mess-up. What I thought of when I first saw it was 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I only offer my opinion, and my opinions are fluid depending on new information. I have always enjoyed Mansoor's views. It is just that the black market network is far too elaborate, expansive and Pakistan-nation oriented for Mansoor and Pervez and the Bhuttos to be ignorant of as claimed.

In my view, I can't really understand why our own intel missed it for the past 30 years. Maybe they knew something... Who knows. But if our intel did miss it entirely -- or if they let it fall by the wayside like they did the clues leading up to 911 -- than I do pity our poor nation. America has been forgetting to carry that big stick when it comes to the arab, muslim and asian world it seems.

That's an astute observation. I haven't been to DC since I was about 4 years old, so I know almost nothing about it, but it's my understanding that the traffic grid is already strained to nearly the breaking point. It wouldn't be too hard to get a lot of people stuck in the city core I imagine, especially with the waterways around it. The would be a lot of small choke points.

I admit to being old...but the gray matter still has flashes of brilliance. I forget little.

It was fun while it lasted.

So -- what have we on blasts and fallout?

You might want to start with this.

>>I can't really understand why our own intel missed it for the past 30 years.

We knew about it in the days of Zia but looked the other way because of the jihad against the Soviets.

Bush 1 slapped sanctions on Pakistan and even considered putting it on the list of terror sponsoring nations.

Clinton? Well, the west went googoogaagaa over Benazir Bhutto, all was forgiven, and the Taliban, under Pakistani tutelage swept to power.

Bush has played this brilliantly. First the nukes, now back to the hunt for osama and the war on AQ in that region. Makes sense now why the Afghan campaign was virtually stopped after Anaconda in spring 2002 and jihadis allowed safe havens in Pakistan.

Paki nukes had to come first.

so if they hit the downtown DC area it could make the White House, Capital, Exec Office Building etc uninhabitable for years - that would be a STATEMENT.

I guess that would also make the 1,500 sqaure foot, $600,000 box I live in worth damn little. (My insurance carrier would probably send a man in a suit to my neighborhood just to remind me that my homeowners insurance does not cover acts of war!) Seriously, imagine the economic impact of such a hit. Obviously, the loss of life would be astounding. The ripple effect in the economy and the psychology of the attack would be staggering.

I am left wondering what we do!? What if they claim to have more? Who do we hit?

Ash Wednesday just happens to be the 25th as well. I hope somebody in homeland security thinks to check out the Churches tomorrow.

How would vehicles survive the EMP of a Nuclear Blast? I'd suspect lots of fired automobile computers. Your not driving anywhere if your computer is not functioning. Would removing the negative battery cable be of any use in protecting your cars electronics??
