I did some digging on melatonin, and here's what I found.

"Should certain people avoid it?"

"Yes. Those include women who are pregnant or nursing (since no one knows how excessive exposure to the hormone might affect a fetus or infant); people with severe allergies or autoimmune diseases (melatonin could exacerbate such conditions by stimulating the immune system); people with immune-system cancers such as lymphoma or leukemia (for the same reason), and healthy children (who already produce it in abundance). Women trying to conceive should also think twice about taking the hormone, since high doses can act as a contraceptive."

I definitely fall into the severe allergy category. However, in digging for info, I also read that lack of darkness can contribute to insomnia. I happen to have a retro-clock that lights up in the dark, that sits on my table all lit up while I'm trying to sleep. I'm going to try and do something with that - maybe cover it, or turn it around, or something. That's worth exploring.

But I'm glad that you found something that works for you. Hopefully I'll be able to get to that same point, just with something else.

Here's something else I found, in case anyone else is reading our exchange.

"What is pharmacy grade melatonin?"

"Natural, animal, or bovine grade melatonin contains the actual extracts of the pineal gland. Because it comes from animal tissue, this grade of melatonin may be accompanied by viruses or proteins that could cause an antibody response. We highly recommend that people stay away from it."

"The alternative is synthetic or pharmacy grade melatonin, which is produced from pharmaceutical grade ingredients. This form is molecularly identical to the melatonin that we produce in our own bodies, without unwanted extras."

I despise them and their rip off priced cable internet access. They suck.

Good enough for me. Thanks for verifying the info. I'm sorry for being offensive, Stonenots.

Montgomery County (MD) cable provider, Comcast, is dropping FoxNews from its Basic Service as of March 1. To get "fair and balanced" news coverage in this area, it will cost an additional charge of $32.22/month.

Ummmm .. there is always satellite TV

Hey nice try

I verified the story today with a simple phone call.

Looks like the troll hunters flew off half-cocked on this story. This NEWBIE wasn't telling a lie.

Is it because FOX NEWS is so popular they are looking at $$$buck$$$?

Can't be! I just got a mailing saying that MSNBC was moving from free programming....and we all know they're in the dumper. So, it has to be for another reason.

Thanks!!

So what was posted WAS ACCURATE! NOT dis-information. So I'm further confused as to why this person was banned.

Flamed and defamed.

Like I said... I watched this all happening and never saw this poster flame anyone or attack anyone. Quite the opposite. This thread was NOT WRONG nor proven to be wrong.. and eventually the poster was even banned.

I'm with you. I think people need to BACK OFF!! That you took the time to check this out, speaks volumes. A few others would have been served well to have done likewise before attacking!

Unless someone does something ON THIS FORUM that breaks the rules or offends posters, we look paranoid and rude when we attack them and accuse them of things.

People DO owe this poster an APOLOGY.. but the poster isn't here anymore to apologize to!

This is just becoming more and more bizarre. Like some childish high school game.

Good grief!

I was so shocked when I clicked on Stonenots name to see them banned, when only moments before I had clicked on it.. to still see no responses from them. NONE!! Only the original first thread.

Pretty sad if you ask me.

This is the first time in 6 years I've ever said a negative thing about ANYTHING on FR.

But I sure hope this trend changes.

Whoever it is that has the trigger happy finger, please stop banning people so quickly. It never used to be this way. Or when asked by private freepmail what happened.. please explain something.. give us something to help us understand it. I even made sure my name was on the message.

I know we get our share of disruptors, but I don't think this person was one. At least not on this thread. He sure hadn't blown it yet. Or if he had.. you didn't leave it up long enough for any of us to see. (In which case, let us know that a nasty gram had been sent.. we'd be happy to spread the word!!)

But it's kind of looking crazy in here lately.

Thanks, and FRegards!

just so you know... I called too.
The comcast employee denied this was in the works for the pacific northwest. Sounds like a "trial balloon" for a specific region of the USA.

I of course, am no troll-hunter (though I have been labelled a troll myself now and then), and I believe that articles and reports that are not necessarily in the newspaper very much need to be let alone. The idea that every posted report by a freeper must be proven beyond any doubt to avoid the "you are a troll" label is ridiculous.

Thanks for following up.
We shall see if comcast has the stones to take on murdoch and fox... if that is indeed what is up.

because as it turns out, this one has basis in truth, confirmed by some freepers who have called in that region.

That's fine. I still think stonenots is a troll.

I hope people in Montgomery County rise up by the thousands and cancel their cable service. Probably won't happen - generally, it's leftie territory.
