When it comes to report time, help your daughter research the false claims presented in BFC (I believe there is an excellent, reliable website out there doing just this - help me freepers) and refute point-by-point the movie. It could almost be as easy as shooting ducks in a barrel.

You told this mom to do what ever she chooses to do in such a way as to not "embarrass her wonderful child". Yikes.

And - Oh Pleeeze! We got a major battle going on!
Our kids are embarrassed by the way we wear our hair or our shoes, that's kids - You are giving a person advice on how to handle a very serious situation based on whether her kids will be embarrassed??? - now we are really gonna make a difference!

Moms and dads do not embarrass their kids by standing up bravely for what is right and true - they give them an example to follow!

Great example! The bureaucrats cannot look past the buzz words... And in your Dad's case they immediately saw racism, but what was actually written meant cheap... BIG, BIG DIFFERENCE!!!

Problem is, try getting the bureaucrats to understand...

You're welcome. It's a long, difficult read, but it tears Mr. Moore's "documentary" to shreds scene by scene.

In our old school district, kids were watching "Braveheart" as a historical documentary. At least there they had to get parental permission to watch an "R" rated movie and some parents used that as a way to get their kids out of that "history lesson."

The stupidity of this movie aside, "Columbine" is also "R" rated, so you might ask the school principal or school board why this teacher took it upon herself to show this "adult" movie to your children, and without your permission.

I would send this to the teacher demanding a response. If none is sent, I would copy to the principal, the Board of Education, and the State Education Superintendent. (I would also copy your local Newspaper's and TV.)

Dear Teacher:

You continue to step over the line of trusted instructor by openly and unapologetically pushing a political agenda on our children. Your attack on the President for "stealing the election" exceeds your mission to foster critical thinking. Likewise, your critique of Gone with the Wind as being false, for lacking scenes of murder, rape and oppression, strains credulity. In each instance, your personal political beliefs shine through, and your failure of judgment makes it plain that you confuse education with indoctrination.

Most recently, you have compelled your students to watch Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine." This "documentary" is nothing more than a thinly disguised, left-wing propaganda film that seeks to distort facts, while using death, tragedy, and the child victims of hate to push a political agenda. Your track record demonstrates that you cannot use this film to illicit thoughtful dialogue. I fear, you are using it merely as a tool of indoctrination.

Your actions and agenda require an explanation. If you continue to use the public classroom to advance a personal political bias, I will move with dispatch to shine a public light on your activities. Your methods are not acceptable at the High School level, and would be troubling even at a college level.

If you would care to defend these actions, I will give you that opportunity. Failing something cogent from you, I intend to see you removed from the classroom.

I hope this helps.

Long history, but it has to do with the New River Parkway effort and a corrupt local government. As well as Tom DeWeese of American Policy Project.

Yes, I think you have an obligation to your child to conduct yourself in a dignified, and coherent manner when in their school and the presence of their friends. If you do not think it important to do so, that's your deal.

I wrote this rant when I was in a complete rage. Yes I should have calmed down, but I am angry and I want folks to know why. When I go to the school, I will be cool as a cucumber and take the advice I have gotten here, BUT....I do intend on exposing this teacher for what she is! This is the one straw that broke the camels back!

This is a great opportunity to show these students the power of propaganda. Search out the sites that show the deceptive use of editing that Moore used (the Hardy Law site referenced in #31 is a good start), then ask the instructor to allow you to go through the "documentary" with the kids and show how Moore has manipulated them. If the instructor won't let you, see if she will allow your daughter to do it.

Of course, if she won't (and who are we kidding here ... she won't), your daughter should ask why she if afraid of an opposing viewpoint?

Another lesson!
