Kerry
I thank you for your service,
Way back in Viet Nam.
But that is no free ticket,
To let you pull this scam.
You spit upon our nation,
Betrayed our young brave men.
You called them baby killers,
Its not true now, nor then.
You sir are just low life scum,
You prey upon rich chicks.
I hope Teresa sees the light,
And dumps your bag of tricks.
Ill vote for Bush this coming fall,
And pray that you dont win.
For if you win, we all will lose,
Our freedom will cave in.

We were Soldiers was probably the hardest movie I ever watched. Haven't seen Passion yet. I cried thru that movie. I couldn't stop. Mel ought to re-release that movie, and let ole Monsieur Kerry talk about baby killers. Maybe he would be drawn and quartered.

I can't say We Were Soldiers made me cry, but I spent most of the movie with a big smile of pride on my face ... all for our military ... and I remember repeating over and over throughout the movie "WOW!", and "I'm sure glad they went over instead of me" (By the way, I was 2 years old at the time ...)
Taking the wife to see Passion tonight at 7:00. Can't wait.

Pride, with sadness is how I felt. I served in the USAF 72-76 and didn't go to Viet Nam. But I know a lot of veterans who did. I thank them every chance I get.
The determination and courage of our soldiers throughout our history is truly an inspiration for this patriot. I have to hold back tears of pride when I sing the National Anthem.

I saw the movie and it was a great tribute to our Vietnam vets. Great movie, great people. I bought the book too, after seeing the movie. We have the greatest soldiers. And you were involved in that battle from We Were Soldiers? I'm in awe. Thank you all for your service.

Thank you all for caring and sharing with us your deep responses to your viewing "WE WERE SOLDIERS."
The "PASSION" Pre-view viewers' silence we see on TV as they leave their theaters mirrors precisely us "WE WERE SOLDIERS" Vets as we left that movie's Pre-views at Ft. Benning and San Diego.
GOD does indeed seem to work His Miracles in some very loving ways..?

I've seen "We Were Soldiers" several times. After we saw it at the theatre, my husband bought the DVD. Wow. What a movie, what character is displayed. I cannot even express my feelings about the portray Mel Gibson does of - and now I cannot remember his name. I'm tired, it's been a long and trying day today. Haven't seen The Passion yet, though.

We Were Soldiers was the first movie since the air cav scenes in Apocalypse Now that made my hands get clammy and my neck muscles get tense. Both brought back many memories of dusty hot LZs and three radios screaming in my ears.
Here is a link to the website of the unit I was in in RVN. Some of the crewmembers had the foresight to tape some of the actual missions as they occurred. The recordings will put old helicopter pilots on the edge of their seats.

This from someone who walked thru that Valley of Death known as the IA DRANG of Mid-November 1965:
Have no Fear,
for you are all very dearly LOVED.
I love you entirely,
GOD loves you perfectly.
And since...
...things may not be what they appear to be in this world, for...
...there are things in life you can see with your eyes and...
...in life there are things you see with your Heart
And since
...LOVE is the Only Reality
And since
...it is in your Loving and...
...being Loved in return,
...in your Heart,
...that you really do live on FOREVER...
...you cannot miss,
with LOVE.
Praise GOD that...
LOVE is the Only Reality and that...
GOD is LOVE.
Just ask Pope JOHN PAUL II -&- our blessed little TERRI SCHIAVO,
...who are together again now for the 1st time,
ETERNALLY..?

I have the book and could only watch the movie once. For the record, Bangor Troop greeting was started by a Veteran from that battle. George Nye didn't want our troops treated in the same manner he was treated when he returned home.

Having read the book, and seen the movie, I think Mel Gibson likes to tell it like it was. I couldn't be more thankful for that. Thank you, sir, for your stand and sacrifice. Americans...real Americans, well-up with tears and pride at what has been done for us by our soldiers. (Can't speak for the Libs, just us regular Americans.) God bless you, Aloha Ronnie, and your war-brothers.

ALOHA armymarinemom,
I rememeber being blessed to have embraced Pfc JIMMY D. NAKAYAMA's now grown lovely daughter at our 2003 IA DRANG Alumni Conference, JIMMY being Sergeant GEORGE NYE's good Battle of IA DRANG Brother who died on the day of his own daughter's birth.
I am reading that GEORGE NYE died of a heart attack in 1991 while decorating a Christmas Tree in Bangor, Maine for our returning Gulf War Heroes.

I'll never forget our landing in a U.S. Navy landing craft at the beaches of Qui Nhon before our being helilifted further inland to the Central Highlands and the 1st Major Battles for Freedom of the Vietnam War.
That was in the Lunar New Year 1965 ..The Year of the Horse.
We are now in the Lunar New Year 2005 ..The Year of the Rooster.
Wouldn't it be wonderful...
if the end of this Lunar New Year finds the Rooster singing his last song
...and it's a song of pure Joy,
...as we see Freedom's arrival to those beautiful long white sandy beaches of Vietnam,
...freeing the people there
to more freely LOVE one another..?
For, after all, isn't...

Hello Ronnie : )
A family member went in with 3rd Marine Mike Co. on operation Starlite 1965.
Grant was a Gunny with Mike Co...serving until 1969.
Mike Co had some very rough times in Quang Tri Prov.
The Hill fights in the Northern Ashua Valley complex...The DMZ [Operation Leatherneck....Con Thien]
Khe Sahn.
The internet has been a fantastic resource to study 3rd Marines history...allong with the many other U.S. forces units which they served with during the war.
Thanks for the links you posted on the various forums : )
As you coment...... Never Forget
Grant has passed away now and joined his friends on the Wall.
Following Grants history is how I arrived at Free Republic.
For Ronnie and Grant
A good name is more desirable than great riches,
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
