Are they going to ....blacklist him?

Oooo, that word. The version the Hollywood Left has been peddling for over half a century is that "McCarthyism" was responsible for blacklisting all those poor, innocent film makers who just happened to blindly join the Communist Party when they were foolish youths. Of course, Joe McCarthy was a SENATOR, while the famous hearings we still see clips of from time to time were conducted by the HOUSE Unamerican Activites Committee. But hey, what's a few errant details to the Left.

I'm pro-Jewish, but I do not care what the powerful Jews of Hollywood think. The real reason they oppose it is that they are anti-Christian. There is no other valid explanation. Why else would they oppose it? Why kick up all this dust, which only plays into Mel's hands? Its called irrational behavior, the type you get out of people who have no logical way to explain why they otherwise oppose this. Anti-Semitism? Yeah, right, the only reason Christians would go see this is because they hate Jews or the want to start hating them.....

If he had hailed Castro or called Bush Hitler, they would have made a hero out of him.

And if he made the exact same film about a gay Christ being crucified, he would be a total genius.

Mel just ain'tlaying the Hollwierd game anymore. They don't want him, and he don't need them.

Prairie, he's also earned plenty of money in his career, will make tons more off this film, and is financially set for life. So he doesn't need Hollyweird.

A guy who can make and pay for his own successful films isn't dependent on other for his career

You're right, he isn't. But we, the viewing public, are dependent on him, and others like him (if there are any). He may be the one person who can turn around the entertainment industry. And don't think the Hollywood elite aren't scared silly. That's why the liberal press has their undies in such a bunch right now. They can't handle someone with integrity messing with their agenda.

I haven't yet seen the movie, trying to get logistics together where several family members can go together. However, I am so looking forward to it. This will be the first film I've seen in a theater in years.

"I won't hire him."

Isn't it illegal to discriminate based upon ones religion?

I remember hearing a Paul Harvey segment about a young boy of 12 (I think) who was walking home through a real rough section of town one night. He was set upon by a group of hooligans, beaten mercilessly and left for dead.

But he didn't die. He survived and spent months in the hospital where doctors had to reconstruct his entire face...

Guess who it was? Yep, Mel.

(Haven't seen this posted, sorry for a double if'n it was.)

"One question is, `What propelled him to make the movie about the passion of Christ?' " Mr. Medavoy said. "It makes me a little squeamish. What makes me squeamish about religion in general is that people think they have the answer: `I think my God is the right God.' How do you argue against that?"

Newsflash Mr. Medavoy- The God of Christians is the God of the Jews. The Messiah was a Jew and rabbi. Before Christ Jesus none were able to keep the covenants entered into with the Lord God Almighty. You may need to check your ancient texts like the Torah that you keep on your bookshelf for show.

The left wants the son to denounce his father.

At this point I don't think anything short of the "Crucifixion" of Gibsons father would satisfy.

Hollywood doesn't have the class, vision nor talent to come within lightyears of producing a film that will even come close.

Not today's Hollyweird, true. But the old Hollywood did turn out some really terrific films with religious themes once upon a time. The Robe, Ben Hur, The Song of Bernadette, It's a Wonderful Life, The Sound of Music, Carousel, and the one where Cary Grant plays an angel named Dudley, all come immediately to mind.
