The version the Hollywood Left has been peddling for over half a century is that "McCarthyism" was responsible for blacklisting all those poor, innocent film makers who just happened to blindly join the Communist Party when they were foolish youths. Of course, Joe McCarthy was a SENATOR, while the famous hearings we still see clips of from time to time were conducted by the HOUSE Unamerican Activites Committee. But hey, what's a few errant details to the Left.
