Sweeney seems to be satisfied with Kerry's explanation that like his vote for war with Iraq he voted for free trade, but then was shocked when free trade resulted. Gee, if Kerry is so easily duped by a simple cause-and-effect relationship and by a plain-talking President, and waffles his position all the time, then why in the world should we trust him with our national security NOT to be duped by Kim Jong-il, a notorious genocidal terrorist military dictator developing nuclear weapons that he will aim at us?
Just wondering. I personally think that's too big a risk to take, but well, I report, you decide.

Simple answer. Any union leader that endorses or raises money for an EVIL Republican (and they are all evil by definition to the labor types) would be forever ostracized. Black leaders are more politically astute than labor leaders - at least they get *something* for all their efforts: Affirmative Discrimination and a few other bones.
The unions are so entrenched in their us-against-them struggle with EVIL corporations (and they're all evil by definition to the labor types, even the ones who make their employees virtual co-owners) that they reflexively support Democrats even ones who won't do anything to help them.
Good thing the rank-and-file aren't as stupid as their bosses. Many voted for Reagan and decided it felt good. Some stayed and voted for Bush in 2000. My guess is a lot more will in 2004.

Hate to say it but I can sum up why with two words:
PENSION FUNDS.
Check the pension fund legislation. What amount of pension funds does sweeny hold sway? (how much is invested in heinz?)
The unions don't give a rats behind about jobs, they only care about the money THEY control.
so Ann, please follow the money.

Union members must be asking themselves 'What the HELL are we doing with Sweeney?"
Coulter makes him look like the dunce he is and I'll bet it doesn't go down smoothly with membership. They all look like fools. Total, complete, fools.

Sweeney along with McCauliffe got out of Global Crossings LTD just in time. (imagine that) They made money while everyone else lost. Sweeney left the union pension funds in Global Crossings. There was supposed to be an investigation headed up by Tommy Thompson. What happened to to it and where is the report?
