I kind of like the male bashing, especially since I am an unapologetic, masculine male. It helps that I am Sicilian, of course.

A) missed the point of the Jif commercial, or
B) don't have little girls of your own

but as a father of three daughters I can tell you that's exactly how a little girl would act.

Little girls tell their daddies that things are silly, but the point is, she wants to do things the way her daddy does them too.

There isn't anything negative about it, well except for Jif peanut butter (YUCK!).

My most obnoxious TV commercial is the one where the son discovers he's been accepted to an "ivy league" college and the STUUUPID father starts hocking silver, selling his car, and brings in a Russian guy to rent their spare bedroom. Of course his brilliant wife has just applied for a home loan to pay the bills.

Ive noticed that EVERY commercial with a man for the past 5 + years, the man is portrayed as a bumbling, stumbling, half-retarded dumbass. But never fear, the savy, intelligent, on-top-of-the-situation female always shows up just in time to save the day.

Totally agree with you and it's no secret that many young men have very low self esteem due to a lot of the conditioning we've seen on TV, movies, etc. over the last few years. It may sound weird but I think more and more that many young men have embraced the gay lifestyle because of the incessant, insipid attacks on their manhood.

Equally disconcerting....what about the effects on young girls and how they view males in general. I think many women that want to see their daughter married some day to a strong, grounded, confident young man should take this male bashing goofiness very seriously.
