----------------------------------- NRA MEMBERS' COUNCILS OF CALIFORNIA 02/26/2004 ----------------------------------- NRA Determined To Pass S.1805 The following is a message from H. Paul Payne, NRA Liaison to the Executive Vice President (Wayne LaPierre) and Program Administrator for the NRA Members' Councils of California: ----------------------------------- I have spoken to our NRA Leadership in NRA-HQ and am assured that, contrary to some rumors on the Internet, the NRA is determined to pass S.1805 (the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act") without an extension of the Clinton (so-called Assault Weapon) Gun Ban or any restrictions related to gun shows. PERIOD!!! The NRA is holding the line and, with your help, we will prevail. Go to http://www.calnra.com/calerts/calert022504.shtml for information regarding S.1805 and for contact information for key Senators. Please contact them and urge them to support NRA's position. Thank you. Paul P.S. Please circulate this message to every gun owner that you know so that they know the truth, and can help NRA in this battle to save our Second Amendment Freedoms. -- H. I guess they mean the cottage industry of anti-NRA gun groups.
Ok. But are they equally determined to pass the bill without any other attachments? ....namely, the Boxer Amendment (which requires all new handguns to be sold with "child-proof" safety locks).
We all knew this kind of hashing in the Senate was going to happen, and the major pro-gun forces involved have stated that ultimately there will be a clean bill, or no bill. That makes it easier for the enemy, actually, but what else is new?
Stand fast. It's not over 'til it's over.
