To the Editor
As an American, I am proud of the job President Bush is doing. He has brought leadership, honor and decency back to Washington.
By enacting the largest tax cut in a generation, thereby putting money back in the hands of deserving Americans, not just the rich as Democrats have claimed; by securing our homeland, because the job of the president is to protect us from foreign threats; and by strengthening an economy that was on a downward slide, he has proven himself a strong leader for this country.
As for the war in Iraq, some claim the president should not have started this war. The fact is that he did not start this war on terror. It was started by terrorists on 9/11.
Let's look at past presidents.
F.D.R. led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1943, 450,000 lives were lost.
Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost.
John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without U.N. or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan, yet did nothing, and Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, and crippled al-Quaida. He has put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who had slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. President Bush did all of this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.
America needs the Republican Party and President Bush's positive vision for a safer, stronger, and better America.
