As a Protestant, I rejoiced at Vatican II's liturgical reform. I knew that this shift to the vernacular would do more to de-legitimize Catholicism's claim of universality than anything the church had done since 1054 (the East-West split).
It's sort of like when Canadians or Europeans preferred Clinton over Bush, he fit their "sensibilities".

Nashville has invaded Rome." He's critical of pop culture invading the sanctity of sacred worship and bemoans the influence in the church of Rome as much as in the Protestants congregations. North is also clearly saying that only a Catholic of the old tradition could have made this film. That sounds like praise to me.
