My experience, obviously limited nearly to absurdity, is that God judges with such mercy that the judged are overwhelmed with awe. The judged are brought to a knowledge of their true nature, and for most a terribly sorrowful realization it is.

Anger at God is perhaps like the anger of a child for his or her parent. Expectable, heedless, impulsive, and generally forgiven. Childish, and foolish, too.

Every word of that is what I think too. The older I get, the more important God is, and the more humble I become as I realize how I've neglected Him.
