I used to listen to Stern many years ago. I feel like I know his modus operandi quite well.

Lately, Stern's ratings have been in decline.

Lately, the FCC (Stern's arch-foe for years) spoke out against indecency on television.

Stern is pulling a publicity stunt so his name gets back into the news and more people tune in to find out if he is really indecent or not.

Stern could not stand Bubba the Love Sponge getting all the attention.

Face facts folks, you cannot believe anything Stern says on the air. He is all show. Ignore him and he will go away quicker.
