While GWB does try to use religion for political gain, Stern's demise is all about corporate entertainment finally listening to the majority of Americans.

I listened to him way back on NBC in NYC in the early-mid eighties. I was 14-16 or so, and I have always maintained that Stern plays best to males 13-17 or so, since they are both personally and sexually immature.

I have listened to him from time to time since then, mostly for old times sake. He has clearly been running on empty though since his wife Alison left him. That was the big watershed for him - he hasn't been the same since. He can have a swank penthouse, a foxy mid-20s model girlfriend, a procession of naked women in his studio for him to indulge in if he chooses, but what he wants and needs is Alison.

I don't know the man but that much is crystal clear. I figure Stern to be a pretty down guy, in fact.

You may well be correct about Alison. But that is his persoanl life and really not my place to talk about. I will only say, he has himself to blame and I'm surprised she put up with it for as long as she did.

Stern is not a stupid man .. he knew/knows what he was doing. He let his head get to big

Don't get me wrong re: Alison. It's not my place either to probe his personal life. His public life is fair game, though, and he made Alison part of his public life.

My observation re: Alison is really only that his show and hsi on-air persona has been notably different since Alison left him. He clearly lost his edge, at least it's clear to me. He should have taken himself out of his misery a while back, and tried to take care of his personal life.

To me, Stern is just doing his gimmick from 1992 or so - nothing new, nothing fresh, phoning it in, his heart isn't in it. The missing ingredient in his life is obvious to everyone who knows him, but may be a mystery to him.

It's strange that my endearment of the Howard Stern Show really started when Stuttering John Melendez asked Jennifer Flowers if Bill Clinton used a condom at a National Enquirer press conference in 1992. Granted, my only prior exposure was the syndicated Saturday night television series that aired on an independent channel, but those questions Stuttering John posed to Jennifer Flowers scored points that endeared me to the show.

Therefore, when I finally heard the actual radio program in 1993, it was a disappointment to me that Howard Stern endorsed Bill Clinton for President.

Eventually, I managed to allow Howard Stern to entertain me in spite of his misguided endorsement of abortion-on-demand. It was more than just the description of sexual activities, but it was the humanity that emanated from Howard Stern's personal experiences, albeit troubled with psychological problems.

Howard Stern has been unadulterated fun. Even if Howard would mute himself about a trouble that revolved around the show at times, he'd eventually share the details. He was like the relative who'll spill the gossip on deep family secrets.

I personally suspect Howard Stern will weather this latest uproar, and although his attacks will be wrongly guided, he'll make more money each year than I can make in a lifetime. I just have to laugh when he says my free speech is being muted, when he is being paid to air his speech when I am not.

Howard Stern is most definitely a hypocrite, and he'll even acknowledge that from time to time. Eventually, if he opts to do radio after his Infinity contracts expires, I suspect he'll move to satellite radio where radio will become much like television now.

As for Stern's attacks against Republicans and mainly, George W. Bush, he has been conditioned to hate them. Remember, he voted for Al Gore. He rallied against the FCC when George H.W. Bush was President, but acquiesced when his boss Mel Karamzin paid the outrageous fines levied upon Infinity when President Clinton took office. Granted, he points that out as extortion, but he doesn't blame the Clinton administration as much as he does George H.W. Bush's administration, even though it was two years into Clinton's administration when the FCC cracked down on Infinity.

And essentially, Stern is oblivious to the conditions of the beloved liberal agenda he embraces. He has no idea how much Universities upend the voice of conservatives on campus, and from his latest statements concerning his open mind regarding gay "marriage", he probably even supports the universities who end conservative debates. I personally can't even fathom a way of convincing him otherwise, but I don't think I'm the only listener who continues to listen even though I'm fed up with his political views.

I agree Stern ran out of steam when his wife left--it was the thing that linked him to us--The every man wondering out loud what it would be like if he was still single. It's just been forced, and not very funny. His show is beneath him, pandering to the lowest common denominator.
I hope he doesn't do a Lenny Bruce--seems a lot like him. Pushing the edges of taste and complaining about the establishment reaction for doing so. Radio is an industry, not a democracy. If the owners don't find him funny, off the air he goes, end of story. I think what I found most annoying about his show was the whining--he's a fifty year old millionaire who is famous and dates fashion models, he's smothered in opulence and still whines like a hard done by little kid.

Howie is the perfect person to start with as they know he will blame Republicans. This is perfect for lefties because they will get to destroy free speech and not be blamed.

Stern fell for it hook line and sinker which goes to prove how stupid he really is.
