8. When the flag is displayed in a manner other than by being flown from a staff, it should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or drapings are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.

I believe the point of a window display is to be seen from the outside

And we're not 100% sure that was his officeBingo. And the reporters were staying far away from that story, as they weren't sure either. Maybe some enterprising member of the press will find out for us, when that becomes possible.

Somewhere I have a photo of the U.S flag at Sheila Jackson Lee's home - hung backward.

Hey, he fought in Viet Nam and got himself a handful of medals. How dare you criticize him for anything he does for the rest of his life? ;-)

Oh, he probably has grace on his side for his flag sin.

Yes, no one should make a big deal about this yet. We know for sure his office is in that building, but there's nothing in that window or any adjoining one that says Kerry for President, or anything like that. That's all the picture will show, a flag hung backwards in a window that could belong to anybody.

Flag Code Violation in the News
|
In July 2003 this picture of President Bush was circulated across the Internet noting its violation of the Flag Code: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." LOL.
Even though I disagree with President Bush's positions on a few key issues, I'm still going to vote for him in November, God willing. I can't let Kerry get in there, to the degree that my vote will help keep him out.
To: AgThorn
That's considered a souvenir flag, I believe. Not an official flag.
To: clyde260
Too bad there's not a picture of it hanging backwards. That would be worth some news coverage. Fox would pick it up...and Drudge.

Sorry for the caustic comment. I just went through something very personal where a Christian said, "that's ok, I can do what I want to do now because I have grace." I don't think it can be used in that manner, but then again the chruch seems to agree with them and not me.

That is the usual protocol for flying the Star-Spangled Banner on planes:

When the flag is displayed on moving things, the field of blue should be oriented so it is leading the rest in forward motion. That applies to vehicles, uniforms...ect.

You are correct, the flag should always be perceived as "moving forward" never retreating.
