""Many people in Germany know far more about Jackson, Mississippi, than about Jackson, Wyoming.""
This is a joke right?
Some of his quotes suggest he is dumber than Dan Quayle ever was.

Well he is from Germany isn't he.
But I am sure he's right.
Because nobody drags up 40 year old crap every weeks
about Jackson Wy.

"Then, with a wry smile, he deadpanned: "There is also a very important art exhibition from Dresden waiting there for me."Ha! I'm not buying that!
He went down there for the fried catfish and hushpuppies.

I'm not German, but I am from Jackson, MS. I had never heard of Jackson Hole until I married. I knew of Yellowstone Park . . . .
Jackson is home to the International Ballet Competition. Maybe there are ballet fans and stars in Germany.
Then again, he's probably just a dopey pol tryin' to shmooze the locals.

He went down there for the fried catfish and hushpuppies. You can get those anywhere. It had to be the fried pickles.

There is a write up on this in the new Town and Country....I was perusing my wife's copy lounging in the tub this evening and came upon it.
They made note of how Jackson has gotten some great stuff in recent years like some Petersburg riches amongst others.
Interesting.

"They made note of how Jackson has gotten some great stuff in recent years like some Petersburg riches amongst others."Really? That's wonderful! I'd much rather see Jackson get these great pieces than some place like Portland. In my post, I was making fun of Schroeder, not Jackson. Actually, to have the Glory of Baroque Dresden exhibition there is fantastic, as well. I just don't like Schroeder. ;o)
As petitfour pointed out, Jackson is the home of the International Ballet Competition. No less than Baryshnikov, among others, has performed there. I mention him because he is one of my favorites.
I haven't had a fried pickle (yum) in years. I'm sure they are world class, too. ;o)

Bush was adamant in his remarks after the Friday meeting with Schroeder that he considered Germany a valuable ally. The only value Germany has for America is if we can use Germany against the French somehow, and hurt both countries at the same time.
Hopefully President Bush has some plans along these lines.
