For the last several years, I've been saying we have lost the war and America will be a communist/socialist state. The only thing left to fight for is how much we can slow it down. The pendulum swings from left to right; however, the fulcrum (or pivot point) is constantly moving to the left. We can fight and swing the pendulum to the right; thereby, slowing the leftward slide. But make no mistake about it we will be a socialist/communist country in the end.
I'd love someone to show me a positive light that shows a 3rd way--a way we can win; however, I've yet to find it. The are only 2 things that can prevent this from happening. One is catastrophic events, such as nuclear war, meteors destroying most of the earth, or other Noah like natural disasters. And the second is a complete collapse of our economy thereby throwing us into an anarchy state (much like Haiti).

poverty is at an all time low.. unemployment is historically low,, noone is turned away from health care, and the unions busted themselves,, standard of living has never been higher,, what the hell are you talking about?,, Troll!

This is a report about government unions. The reference to socialism is by way of Friedman's definition of socialism.
There was a time when government employment was considered a poorly paid 'service' committment but was secure.
Today government employment is a very well paid 'career' with double sometimes triple dipping benefit opportunities and even more protections.
This report is timely in that many government levels are facing budget problems but are reluctant to reveal their causes, government union pension largesse.

Socialism as system of human government fails at every level above the family unit or clan. History is replete with example after example. All that socialism brings, ultimately, is tyranny.

In my time with Federal government, no union, it was the agency themselves that were doing the money grabbing. The burrowcrats never have enough. I learned the hard way, go along with fleecing the taxpayers or you will go nowhere.

Yet since union strategists are bright enough to usually pursue these goals surreptitiously, average citizens rarely learn exactly whats being done to them until too late. At the most they hear carefully composed sound bites suggesting that "caring" or "fairness" necessitates some new government program.I've met any number of people who seem to think that failure to liberally salt one's conversation with the 'Royal F' and the 'Super S' (and thou knowest which words I refer to!) means that a person isn't genuine, authentic, and sincere.
I would submit this is entirely in error, for our prisons and Hollywood are full of vulgarians.
In contrast, nearly every time I hear a public figure talk about 'caring' and 'fairness,' I know I'm going to get Effed, and Royally so.

Nobel economcs Laureate Milton Friedman makes a powerful case that the United States today is at least 50 percent socialist. So, there really ARE two Americas: one a republic, the other Socialist.

Milton Friedman makes one of the best cases for the superiority of the free market that I have heard.
His series, "Free to Choose" really opened up my eyes years ago, its a shame the rest of the country is deaf to his calls.
