re: " I don't think they were many crucifixions though."
Correct. Crucification is NOT a method of execution sanctioned in the Torah.

>Sadly, that is not the case. No two of the four "inspired" Gospels agree upon what His last words actually were.<
Better go read them none of the four contradict each other.
>Not to mention the numerous other serious discrepancies between the four Gospels.<
Old kinard from freshman religion but it lacks scholarship.

We have only oral legends, written decades after the events You have a peculiar idea of how 'legends' are formed. For example, my wife and I were married for 39 years before she passed away last year, but I assure you that there are no 'legends' relating to our marriage. Why? Because too many people remember the events.
BTW, the best scholarship supports the fact that the Gospels were written down within the same range of time from the events as the time frame of our marriage. Sorry, there are no "legends" in the Gospels. Too many eye-witnesses get in the way.

One Catholic priest in Morris County was so appalled by Mel Gibson's "The Passion of The Christ'' that he described the film as "religious barbarism.''
The Rev. Kenneth Lasch, a veteran Catholic priest, said he was repelled.
"I saw it as religious barbarism ... in my opinion, God did not send his son to die,'' said Lasch, of St. Joseph's Church of Mendham. "God sent his son to live, to be faithful. And in being faithful, it cost him his life.''
Lasch, who saw the movie Thursday, also said the film's uncompromising, in-your-face approach reflects a growing divisiveness and belligerence within the major religions.
"As I was sitting at the end of movie I thought, 'This is not bringing us together,''' he said. "This is increasing the separation.''

this person is correct -- **But a Protestant minister in Harrington Park was so moved that afterward he drove to a park, where he prayed and sat silently for almost an hour.**
All I could do was go over to the church and pray the Stations of the Cross. Then I could talk with people.

If you won't believe me at least believe Christ Himself. John 10:
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

This stuff about the claim of the Jews having killed Christ inspiring people to kill thousands of Jews is nonsense.
The Nazi Party was anti-Catholic.
And the Jews did participate in the death of Christ.

Me too Eala. Each time that scourge struck I realized those were OUR sins our Lord was taking on. The reason it went on and on and on is because our sins have gone on and on and on. I wept in agony as I realized how much I have added to them. I will think very hard the next time I am tempted and weigh the cost that the Lord paid.

I was repelled at Catholic priests molesting over 10,000 children.

And the Jews did participate in the death of Christ. Yes. But had He claimed Houston as the City of God, Texans would have played a role. It has always been His will and His love...

That "one of his best friends is Jewish" crap just isn't credible.John Paul II actually worked to SAVE Jews in Poland during the Holocaust, when he was a Seminarian.

The Bible says that Caiaphas also "prophetically"in the role of High Priest pronounced that "one man should die for the Nation", in his desire to justify the necessity of Christ's execution. I read that prophecy someplace in the old testament that Caiaphas was quoting recognizing that while the priest was acting cynically and coldly Machiavellian, he was indeed quoting God's will for His Son. It seems that God even orchestrates the evil of men for his own purposes!

Otto Scott was one historian who, as a skeptic, was converted by reading the Gospels. As a professional historian they (the Gospel accounts of Christ's life, death and resurrection) had the ring of authenticity to him.
The different perspectives offered by the Gospels are what one might expect from real individuals witnessing and reporting on the same event, again from various perspectives - just like asking six people who witnessed a car accident from six different locations around an intersection to describe what they saw. The Gospels indicate authentic witness -- not collusion aimed at 'getting the story straight.'

Rabbi, is that the Marxist Communist, National Council of Churches, that is leading it's followers into the "one World Church," of Gaia worship?LOL! I'm sure you didn't mean this to be funny, but it struck me as such. I absolutely agree with you. I can't even say 'National Council of Churches' in my house!

The priest has deviated from his teaching. Maybe he should convert to Unitarian Universalism.

God didn't send his son to die? This Catholic priest doesn't believe in the Bible. Odd no?I once worked for a nun who was the Director of Mission Effectiveness (basically the ethics department)of a large hospital chain. This nun was absolutely the meannest person I ever worked for. One day we were discussing prayer and she told me that she "doesn't believe in the power of prayer". Now why would anyone who doesn't believe in the power of prayer be a nun? Maybe that explains why she was so mean?

At my Presbyterian church in NJ way back when the Associate pastor gave a sermon about how the Virgin Birth was just a story. My wife and I had him over for dinner a few weeks over. I asked him what else he thought was just stories. Well - everything.
I said - "even the Resurrection"? He said yes - obviously when people are dead they are dead. My wife and I were polite as we disagreed with him. After I finished my deacon obligations in a few months I followed my wife to a new church that she had found.
Still not sure how he could become a preacher!?
