Chavez' oil weapon is no weapon at all. He has no choice but to sell it; its useful to remember from time to time that we are not dependent on any one of these countries for oil, as we only get a fraction of our oil from any one country. Venezuela, and the other OPEC countries, on the other hand are totally dependent on their oil income. Totally.
That means that we are not hostage to their oil, they are hostage to their oil. Chavez would not last a week if he shut off the spigot, his own people would take him down.
Speaking of which, we should start sending him travel brochures from the Central African Republic. He's going to be needing them. I see the makings of a great sitcom, The Odd Couple redux. He's evil and messy, his roomy's evil and tidy. He's evil and likes Polar beer, his pal is evil and drinks goat's blood from a demitasse...

That means that we are not hostage to their oil, they are hostage to their oil. Excellent point, marron. I also liked your ideas for the future Odd Couple.
