Wild pigs find Berlin anything but boaring

Berlin - A German hunter stabbed a wild boar to death in a stairwell after the beast rammed through the bolted front door of a block of flats and stormed up to the sixth floor, a Berlin newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The beast from the local forest sped past a group of children playing outside and into the building in a Berlin suburb, probably in search of food. Petrified neighbours peered through their spy holes fearing their doors would not hold - and called 36-year-old hunter Conrad Meyer.

"I grabbed him around the neck and then stabbed him square in the heart with my hunting knife," Meyer told the BZ daily newspaper, which showed him in traditional green hunter's hat and camouflage kit dragging the carcass away.

Wild boars often cause havoc in Berlin. Last April one jumped into bed with an elderly couple and in January a man was treated in hospital after a boar crashed into his living room.

If they were allowed to have guns, pigs would not be jumping in bed with them!

Well, at least there's one real man in Berlin! :-) Killing a wild boar with a hunting knife is not something I'd look forward to with joy...

Those things are tough customers. I saw alot of them at the CMTC...anyone else still shiver when you think about Hohenfels?

Anyway the guy who knifed the boar either has big brass b--ls or it was not a mature beast.

Give this man a medal! I wouldn't want to wrestle with a wild boar.

I agree they need to get rid of their silly gun laws. Here we have the option of standing at a safe distance and shooting it.

That was one unlucky boar! What's the odds of running into a hunter in Berlin?

Even if it wasn't mature, it was an athletic beast!

There is a REALLY bad joke to be made here about "cop killing bullets" but I'll be nice and refrain since I actually know and love several cops.

Oh, man ... I wish you hadn't said that. Over the years, I had forgotten about that.

But I do remember why I always set up my M-60 at night on top of our APC.

In a confined space/stairwell to boot. That boar was probably going crazy.

I could have a wild boar in my living room every night at 6:30 PM Eastern simply by turning on the TV to ABCCBSNBCPBS

Actually, in the context that it was used, I think it would be fair to call it an "assault weapon."

Any wild boar up in Michigan? I encountered these lovely creatures in the Everglades a few years back. They are the descendents of feral pigs released by early settlers. Thankfully, there is a hunt every year, although I don't much care for the taste relative to farm raised swine.
