Because they didn't want the liability legislation to begin with. This was their RAT plan - poison the bill so much that no Republican could vote for it and face his constituents.

And they just tied up at least 3 days of Senate floor time. Delay, delay, delay, filibuster, delay.. it's all part of the "legislative plan" this year. Watch and see.

A good question. ....they got the (Feinstein) AWB extension, the (Boxer) gun locks amdmt, and the "gun show loophole" closed. I have no idea why they let it die.

Just a guess on my part but, if they had passed the ammended bill, it would have gone to a House/Senate conerence committee where the "poison pill" ammendments could have been stripped out. Also, the Dems want to campaign against "Assault Weapons" in the Fall. Look for a host of "Child killed by assault rifle" stories to make their way in to your local and national news coverage starting in late September.
