Public can't afford it, federation contends; Hispanic advocate says workers help economy.

The financial impact of Indiana's burgeoning Hispanic population will be the topic of discussion when immigration reform advocates conduct a public forum tonight in Speedway.

Diane Osborn said she organized the meeting because she is concerned the state is spending too much to assist immigrants at a time when the state's budget deficit exceeds $1 billion.

You can't talk about serving the needs of Hispanics without talking about the assets they bring

Their "assets" do not defray their costs. The only way they could is by not having free medical, free housing, free food, free, free , free, everything.

Besides, it is not the IMMIGRANTS opinion that matters, it is OUR OPINION as citizens who are supporting thse yahoos that matter.

"DeRusha said Hispanic residents play an important role in the state's economy"

They sure as Hell do.

They are going to bankrupt it.

"You can't talk about serving the needs of Hispanics without talking about the assets they bring,"

Assets....hummm-

Jobs? No. They take those.

Educated work force? No. Most adults don't have high-school diplomas.

Money? No. Mexico gets most of it.

Darn, Stew...Help me out. I can't seem to think of ANY!

1) Remove all social services recipients who have neither parent as a LEGAL IMMIGRANT or CITIZEN by BIRTH or NATURALIZATION.

2) If a CITIZEN TAXPAYER falling within any given percentage tax bracket (example: 15% tax) and their dependants receive their annual support from taxpayer funded sources equal to or exceeding that percentage (example: 15%+ financial support), NO TAX REFUND should be allowed. Under no circumstances should a taxpayer be given a "REFUND" in excess of the tax amounts withheld or paid into the Treasury.

Maybe the government should apply a special and higher tax on illegal aliens, y'know, like on tobacco products.

Programs & subsidies aimed at aiding someone for no other reason than because they happen to be a certain ethnicity is a very disturbing trend.

Blacks can claim compensation for past injustices.

What reason can hispanics claim?

Assets [that Hispanics] bring....hummm. I can't seem to think of ANY!

Gee, you must not have read the last couple of paragraphs of the article.

In addition, [Carmen] DeRusha [executive director of La Plaza, an umbrella organization for several groups that provide assistance to Hispanic and Latino residents] said, Hispanics add to the cultural fabric of the state.

"As we move toward a global economy, the exposure of Hoosiers to people who are different than they are is important training to be more open to the world," she said.

Apparently, the Hoosiers aren't culturally-sensitive enough and the Hispanics are here to help them see the light. In other words, it's time for the rubes of Indiana to start getting used to a lower quality of life... or else!

Sadly it's getting worse. The illegals here in CA (& nationwide) continue to drain our social resources. The numbers are frightening and no one in the media is talking about it. A friend of mine (with medical insurance mind you) went to emergency with her daughter (7 years) and was waiting to be treated for a head wound for almost two hours. In the meantime, two non-english speaking illegal families with MANY kids came in were UNinsured but were immediately given PRIORITY over my friend who was frantic about her daughters questionable wounds. Can you believe how wrong and backwards this is? She was livid! Very sad.

It is ridiculous to lump Americans of Hispanic descent, legal immigrants of Hispanic descent, and ILLEGAL ALIENS into the same group.

The illegals need to be deported immediately. The only "services" they should be receiving is emergency medical care. And they should then be arrested and deported right out of the hospital.

"Services" consumed by legal immigrants (of any stripe) should be charged back to their sponsors.

And "Hispanic" Americans should be treated the same way as any other American.

The nurses probably knew that they'd be sued for discrimination if they didn't attend to the kids right away........
