Nice ads.

I love the fact that they are using Laura Bush in the campaign. She really is a strong point. I doubt seriously that TeRAYsa will be highlighted.

I am impressed with all three spots.

Kerry's staff is going to have to arrange some photo ops for him so they can get shots of him looking more atheletic, more manly, less "stuffed shirt"-ish. He has no chance against Bush in his jeans and denim shirt, pilot suit, Baseball jacket...LET'S SEE, WHICH MAN HAS MORE IN COMMON WITH THE AMERICAN PUBLIC???

Kerry had nothing to run on...his record is perverse, so all he can do is attack....it will get old fast:)

They could be stronger. He should get Gibson to direct them.

The NY Post had a gossip item about Kerry today. Seems Kerry used to (surprise) date a wealthy gin heiress who is also a former flame of Taki Theodorapoulis (sp?), the far-right Greek playboy who owns the American Spectator. Taki says she told him a few stories and when he saw Kerry at a dinner party he yelled "Hey Kerry, still having sex in the back of your limousines!" In response Kerry registered the universal "people know" look. I leave you now to get that image out of your skull.

Bet this is one nasty campaign the way Kerry has stated out -- picture these positive ads against the backdrop of the negatives RATs. I think most people would rather see positive.

I agree. I honestly believe that one of the things which changed after 9/11 is that voters are less tolerant of petty politics, and by that I mean negative sniping. The Democrats, because they've been in denial about the significant changes to America's political environment since 9/11 (because it doesn't favor them), haven't picked up on these changes. I think it's brilliant that the BC'04 campaign is starting out with very positive, "presidential", ads. And I think the contrast between these and the nasty ads being run by the DNC will be obvious to voters. Negativity alone has never won elections. Reagan won primarily because he was so optimistic. Hatred of Bush is really all the Dems have to offer, but most voters inherently like GW Bush, even if many disagree with his policies. The negative emphasis of the Dems will not, over the long-haul, work.

I like the apparent tactics so far.

Calling Kerry a waffler is more effective than calling him a liberal.

It has the potential of undermining Kerry's support from the left and the middle, and forces Kerry to take stands where he'd rather be vague.

By the end Kerry will be known both as a die-hard leftist AND a corporate sell-out AND a waffler, all true of course.

Plus Bush, rather than throwing partisan grenades, can stand back and chuckle...Kerry, you say?..who know's what's up with that guy?!?

Great, all 3.

But "safer and stronger" was especially powerful imo.

One complaint that I've had about the GOP in the past (and now currently) is that they always tell the press (and therefore the DemocRATs) what they are going to do before they do it.

They've been telling the press for 2 weeks now that they are going to start their ad blitz. So now the Dems are ready for it. Why reveal your moves in advance?

Don't talk about it - just do it!
