I need to find my way out of this parallel universe and get back home.

There is no place like home
There is no place like home
There is no place like home
There is no place like home
There is no place like home
There is no place like home

It's worth noting that the Federal Marriage Amendment will end up being a useless waste of time, when you consider that the U.S. Supreme Court does not hesitate to: 1) define constitutional rights that are nowhere to be found in the U.S. Constitution; and 2) ignore or overrule constitutional rights that are clearly defined in the U.S. Constitution.

The only means of preserving the institution of marriage is to get all levels of government out of it completely. As far as I am concerned, I have no qualms about people getting married in religious ceremonies, signing notarized contracts giving each spouse certain rights and privileges in the future, and telling the state to take a flying leap.

In fact, this could very well end up being the subject of a future case in a state or Federal court . . .

"If the state of [ENTER STATE HERE] is not allowed to define marriage as it sees fit, then who the hell is anyone to tell me that my 'unlicensed' marriage isn't a legitimate one?"

This guy is good. It amazes me how much damage can be done when the watchdog media becomes a lapdog and, worse, a guide dog on any given issue.

good post. good article. scary prediction.

it tells us that we will waste years of debate and verbal wrangling over something just because the extremists in the gay activist camp are unsatisfied will anything less than full national gay marriage.

This is why the Gay Marriage issue is such a winner for Bush. Kerry will dance around it as best he can - but he is from MASSACHUSETTS and it's like having a billboard behind him wherever he goes in the campaign.

I think it will take time for the public at large to grasp the precarious legal situation in anything less than a full Federal Constitutional amendment. But when they do... look out!

Bush needs to make his nominations to the courts a big election-year issue, along with tort-reform. If he fails to do that, the Kerry presidency will make it an even bigger issue later.

Stanley Kurtz has been accurately predicting where this issue is headed for the past three years at least.

On the pages of National Review Online, he has debated (and trounced) celebrated conservative (?) gay marriage backers Andrew Sullivan and Jonathan Rauch. And he has made a long series of predictions about this which have yet to turn out wrong.

Kurtz knows this issue better than any other conservative commentator in the country. Take this article to heart.
