Enterprise Rent-A-Car to hire 6,500 new workers this year
Enterprise Rent-A-Car plans to hire about 6,500 people this year to handle its growth and meet demand at its 5,000-plus branches, the company said Tuesday.
The rental car company said the need for new employees is the result of growth in its car rental, fleet services, car sales and truck rental divisions. It will primarily seek candidates for its management training program, where nearly all of its operational employees begin.
Ed Adams, senior vice president of human resources, said the company's steady growth has created a need for college-educated individuals to join its management training program. He said many management trainees are running their own branches within two to three years.
Separately, Enterprise said The Black Collegian magazine ranked Enterprise No. 1 on its list of the top 100 employers of college graduates.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the largest privately held company in St. Louis with $6.9 billion in revenue in 2003.

They seem to be a great company. I make a point of renting from them whenever I travel on business.
Their service staff is uniformly presentable, articulate, friendly, and...(gasp)...helpful. A stark contrast to the knuckleheaded sourpusses who typically work behind the other rental counters.

I use these guys quite a bit. They're the cheapest, and they deliver AND pick up the car from your house.
They're the number one source of insurance company rentals.

It's a fascinating company. Privately held, Enterprise has the largest fleet of cars in the world.
It's the first management job for lots of college grads, the employees I've met are intensely loyal to the firm.
Oh, they give good service too, IMO.

They need all those employees in order to wrap all their rental cars in brown paper.

Yeah, lousy company with going nowhere
jobs. Right.

But these aren't "manufacturing" jobs! Apparently, they are the only ones that count to the RATS!

"They're the number one source of insurance company rentals."They've cornered the market by developing relationships with dealers and repair shops.
When I fly into dinky, really, small airports the Enterprise rep meets me at the airport, takes me to their office and sends me on my way.
Convenient, professional and cheap!

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. Someone had to say it first and get it out of the way.

And a fine job of getting it out of the way you did!

I only use Enterprise....I can never get over why they're always in such great moods and so darn nice. They're also very amicable to me when I'm in my "Let's make a deal" mood.
