After the two hundredth time I had to tell a reporter something like, "Even if you are on deadline, I can't restore a document if you never once saved it before your PC locked up. I'm sorry you lost five hours of work, but I can't bring back a file that never existed in the first place." I reached the point of being almost amazed at
accuracy in any story.
I was once told (by someone who had been in the newsroom almost 30 years) that sports reporters are stupid and business beat reporters are smart. I bit my tongue to keep from explaining that the actual difference between their IQs is pretty small.

I have been wondering about the lack of resolve (backbone)of the Republicans. It seems that this started about 1996.
http://www.townhall.com/documents/contract.html The Contract With America 1994: As Republican Members of the House of Representatives and as citizens seeking to join that body we propose not just to change its policies, but even more important, to restore the bonds of trust between the people and their elected representatives.
http://www.epic.org/privacy/databases/fbi/filegate/ In June 1996, it was revealed that the White House had requested and obtained the FBI records on over 400 individuals without their permission. Other unconfirmed news reports now say that as many as 900 files might have been pulled.
Maybe this is just a coincidence???

And if they start to flunk out of journalism school they can always succeed in ed school (flame away, but it's true).

Yes -- journalism today is "get (relate/publish) the story the editor or journalist wants; facts are irrelevant, really, like, really....
Sometimes I feel badly for the mainstream media; they got so spoiled by the Democratic party, the mainstream news is struggling, IMHO, to remember what it is they actually are "supposed" to be doing?
