Families of World Trade Center terror victims are working to end a major threat to U.S. security

All of the 9-11 murderers had visas issued to them by officials of the State Department. Most, if not all, of those visas were granted in clear violation of
regulations and federal law.
Peter Gadiel
Peter Gadiel describes himself as a lifelong Republican, but he is doing battle with the GOPs top standard-bearers. He believes that President George W. Bush and many of the Republican leaders in Congress have sold out the American people on one of the most important issues of our day: protecting our borders against penetration by terrorists.
"It is incredible that after the tragic deaths of nearly 3,000 people on September 11, 2001, the politicians are still refusing to enforce our immigration laws," he told The New American. "There is no excuse for this. The hijackers who killed my son and all the other victims on September 11 were able to carry out that terrible crime because our elected and appointed officials have refused to protect the American people by refusing to enforce our immigration laws. At least 15 of the 19 hijackers should never have been issued visas to the U.S. and wouldnt have been given visas if U.S. consular officials had followed the law. And the terrorist hijackers would not have been able to remain here in violation of their visas, plotting and moving about freely and unmonitored, except that our political leaders had fostered such permissive policies and attitudes toward enforcement of our laws."

Our elected officials seem more intent on deflecting blame than fixing the problem.

deflecting blame
That is usually much easier than fixing the problem.

I think it is important to counter the CNN poll on the misuse of Bush using WTC image in his campaign video. I am quite surprised that 60+ percent of the people feel this is not right...Am i missing something? Is there not a threat to our security here in America? Hmm...go to lower rh corner. This morning on CNN they were smiling over the fact that 80% were against it...at least that has changed...I feel something rotten is going on here...I really have trouble believing what CNN touts as unbiased reporting. If you feel you have an opinion, please check it out.

Come and visit any of the southwest states that border Old Mexico...you will hear the populace cry...CLOSE THE BORDERS! We got a security problem right here and now with the open borders.

Political leaders today, all of them, are so afraid of offending a "group" ,or being accused of profiling, that they don't really care about who comes across our borders.
They want votes from all the ethnic groups that live here and will do anything to obtain those votes.
Tancredo is the only one that cares amymore.

Not having lost loved ones in the attack I'm not sure that I would be qualified to speak as to their views but I think I would have to agree with Karen Hughes:
Hughes said the ads are a tasteful reminder of what the country has been through the last three years.
"I can understand why some Democrats might not want the American people to remember the great leadership and strength the president and first lady Laura Bush brought to our country in the aftermath of that," she said.

accused of profiling,
This is the one that chaps me the most. We were not attacked by 70 year old grandmothers trying to get home to their families for Thanksgiving. - We were attacked by Arabs!
I can understand wanting to not repeat the errors of WWII when we put all Japanese in "camps". But come on now, we don't have to throw away all common sense!

I was stationed in New Mexico back in the mid 70s. It was really bad then; I can't imagine what it is like now!

"I can understand why some Democrats might not want the American people to rememberVery good point. People should ask, "how many of those speaking out (or on the poll, even) against are DemocRATS or liberals?"

I am quite surprised that 60+ percent of the people feel this is not right... It's easy to explain. CNN is no longer the only 24 hour news channel. Conservatives abandoned it a long time ago. Most of their audience is left of center. Lefties make up most of the traffic on their website, because conservatives avoid it.

I would like to know the issue dates of the visa/passports of the terrorist who hijacked the planes on 9/11. Were they all issued after President Bush became president? I'll bet not, yet he takes the blame. Dems are jerks.

I'll bet not too. The issue is not responsibility for the attacks; it is after the attacks what has been done to prevent people from these same groups from entering the same way to do the same thing.
The answer: Not much.
To: Texagirl4W
I must continue this thought for just a minute. I'll have to add that while Mr. Bush can set the overall outlook on immigration issues, it is the CONGRESS who makes the laws. It is and has been their fault that we are unprotected at our borders.
Protecting our borders is one of the duties that is specifically called out in the Constitution as their responsibility.

As a 71 year old grandmother I got a kick out of your answer. The only problem is they come home to me on Thanksgiving, not the reverse.

We go home too. It is true there is no place like HOME!

Then you have a pretty good idea of what's it's like. California is sinking into the Pacific due to the influx of illegal aliens breaking the bank. It is severe now, and if Bush follows through with his work plan, God knows where it will end up. I had better hear some good solid reasons for his idea..cause right now...I think it stinks!
