Somewhat humorous? Isn't that an understatement?

I wonder if ITER will ever reach breakeven. It has the best shot so far. The geometry is an improvement.

Look for Europeans to take all of the Noble prizes in High Energy Physics for the next 12 years There will be a good amount of R&D in nuclear tech though, mainly because of NASA's new mandate. Can't cover all the bases anymore.

Well we should cover the HEP base. On the other hand, the real meaning of the LHC project is to see what we get out of the hadrons at higher energies range the LHC will provide. It may, however, be all for naught as no one knows what will really happen at those energies. In that case we need a next gen. linear collider and we have plans for one on the board. so we will see. We should have not let the Euros get out ahead of us on this one. There are broader implications. The US part of the Cern team has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting and their return is less than equal to their input. The EU is fighting a hidden "science war" with us and leveraging our expertise to do it - just look at CERN,ALMA, ESA projects, the ISS and Iter. At stake his attracting and keeping talent. We need to win this one. But as I said, the CERN project could just turn out to be a flop, a several billion dollar flop. At least Boeing got something out of it.

Potentially, yes, however this is just the first rudimentary step. 57 year ago, this was the first rudimentary step toward that thing that you get on FreeRepublic with.
Not very impressive, is it?

It's all relative.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but the headline is misleading. "Replicated" in scientific terms should mean replicated by ANOTHER TEAM working independently. This is a team repeating an earlier experiment of their own. When someone else does it, ping me.

The oil companies are not all that pure either. I used a gasoline additive in the 60's that nearly doubled mileage in my 64 chevy. It was bought up and taken off the market. And the inability to do basic math turns you into a blithering idiot. If you were passing this story off as your cousin's uncle's sister's boyfriend you would be merely gullible. Since you claim personal involvement, that makes you dishonest.
I have posted exactly why these claims are as bogus as the day is long numerous times, but there are more idiots repeating them than I have time to deal with.
