Let's see, we have Owl Eagle on one hand, posting from the comfort of his home somewhere in Pennsylvania insisting OBL is dead...
and on the other hand, the CIC is marshalling incredible resources to hunt OBL down (not to mention what the Pakistanis are doing).
I dunno, Owl. Many were most convinced of Saddam's demise as well, and that was demonstrated to be incorrect.
Anybody around here remember the early computer game "Guns 'n' Butter"? (something like that) It was a Risk-like game with a very rudimentary economic model (hence the name). I loved that game, and can't remember losing once I figured out that guns had to come before butter. LOL.

For Musharraf, there is a choice, and it is this:
Either OSAMA dies, or he dies.
There is only one conclusion for Pervez:
GET OSAMA BEFORE HE GETS ME

What I rellay don't want to see is bin Laden in a Paki jail.
We won't have unrestricted access to him, and the Pakis will simply have too much political power with us.
In my opinion, bin Laden will never be taken alive.
To: treeclimber
Assuming for the second he's alive (I don't) . . .
When we have numerous leaks about where we're looking for him, how we're looking for him, and where we think he is, don't you think someone might pass that along to him???
What is up with all these leaks of the last month about how "we're about to grab him" and all that, with specifics as to how we're going to do it.
On this board we have the saying "loose lips sink ships". Perhaps some of the people involved in Al Qaeda hunt should try living by those words and stop telegraphing all their plans to the media.
Just this week we learned about a now shut-down project involving cell phone chips used to track Al Qaeda memers (it's shut down because they finally caught on). For months the good guys were able to keep up with Al Qaeda members. And NOT ONE WORD of this appeared in the press until AFTER the project was over.

Actually, I'm at work.
Well, let me ask you this: IF he is alive, then why haven't we seen any confirmation of it? All we get are poor quality audio tapes and one video that has no indication of when it was made.
Obviously, OBL is more valuable to al-Queda alive than dead, so if he's really alive, why don't they release a video of him saying "I wish to congratulate the Philadelphia Phillies on their 5-1 win over the Yankees to open spring training yesterday." (or something along those lines). What's the advantage to NOT proving that he's alive to al-Queda?
Until I see proof that he did make it out of Tora Bora and didn't transform into scorpion food thanks to a bunker buster, I'll assume he's dead because there's just too much value for al-Q in proving that he's alive... something they haven't done.

Funny how these 'spiritual' leaders seem to be organizing alot of earthly killings.Osama is a "spiritual leader" because Al-Qaeda has to use a medium to contact his "spirit" for the guidance they need.

Ayman Al Zawahiri is a physician.... bin Laden probably gets his health care for free. The good news is that they are probably always together. When we get one of them, we will probably get them both.

True enough. Of course you can't stop looking for him yet, but there is a lot of pub. It is a good story, but most of the original stories are foreign newspapers (Iranian News Agency, Al Haaretz, Hindustan Times) and I really don't know what their agenda is.

I wonder if all these reports of getting OBL was to get him on the run so we could get a better tracking of him?

Gee, with all the advance publicity that we were hot on his trail, he "managed" to escape just as we were closing in? How can that be? (/sarcasm). The press really, really sickens me when it gives a "heads up" to the bad guys. Just like that stupid interlude to try to buy SH time to get rid of the incriminating evidence of WMD before the war.

It is a good story, but most of the original stories are foreign newspapers Official US sources have been talking up this spring offensive including talk of getting him soon.
