after WW2 it was a court-martial offence to get VD. it was there way of saying to the GIs stay away from the houses.

in Hamburg there was one that had a sign on the entrance "off limits to allied personnel". they missed the back door. no way are you going to make a GI stay pure. Turkey houses (compounds) where women work of their "sins".
