Pray tell, in what light would the role of the Jews present at the time be flattering?

How is it insulting to you, since you were obviously born some 2000 years later.

Anyone who would blame a modern Jew for the death of Christ, who isn't dead BTW, has been previously influenced and bigoted anyway.

I don't know a single antisemitic person, and I've been an evangelical Christian my entire 36 years.

What has amazed me throughout this controversy is that so many self-important media types have gone to the trouble to discern how to interpret the role of the Jews in Jesus's death, but all have been too lazy to read any further than the last chapter of John.

"While the beggar held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon's Colonnade. I have thought long and hard about the film after watching it. There are Jews that are prideful,slothful, vain,lustful, arrogant, powerhungry. There are Jew that are cruel, bitter, vengeful,jealous, untrustworthy and fearful.. There are Jews that are patient, kind, generous, compassionate, gentle, loving ,chaste, innocent, unselfish and willing to accept harm to help another person.

In short the movie is not antisemetic as much as the Jews represent humanity in all it's spendor and all it's fallenness. The Jews are us.

Everybody expresses sympathy for Gibson when he refuses to denounce his father. Whenever someone asks about Hutton Gibson, he says, "Don't go there."

Well, the Pharisees are my fathers. What gives Mel Gibson the right to tell slanderous stories about my fathers?
