You'd think that after 90 years, people could take a f***ing hint.

Sane people who respect the rights of others would...but those on a power trip, who seek nothing but the increase of their own influence/compulsion over others (and all the ill that goes with it) will not.
From their distorted perspective, they always know best and such precedents never applies to them.
As the saying goes...power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
The series addresses this as well.

Interesting little item from Inja.
http://hindustantimes.com/news/181_604278,00050001.htm Pakistan allowed China examine key US jet: Documents
Press Trust of India
Washington, March 8
Pakistan "apparently" helped China learn the secrets of a top US fighter jet at the height of Vietnam War by allowing it to examine F-104s provided by Washington to Islamabad, according to secret US government documents made public in Washington.
Don't know if any US outlets have written about this report.

I would hope that rational minds would always prevail in China. But in the midst of an economic collapse, odds are great of an oriental Hitler emerging.

Pakistan on many occassions...at the best...is working both sides of the aisle.
There have been times, particularly with the ChiComms, where they have definitely (IMHO) worked directly against US interests.

Bears repeating. And if it comes about, they will then use our own denero, the factories we built, and beaucoup other infrastructure against us.

I see all those Walmart boots and walky talkies etc, and I think of them being used by millions of Chinese, marching through Asia like locusts.

The dangers of a big land war in Asia have been spoken known, spoken about, and pointed out for a long, long time. I pray we don't have to live it.

Check that last...revision minded fumble fingers at work again. Here's how it was meant to read...

You are welcome my friend.
To: Jeff Head
If the big Asian war happens, a lot of us won't live it. It'll kill us.

You are absolutely correct...which is all the reason in the world for us to ensure that it not happen in the first place. I believe we can best do that with the ChiComms, even at this late date, by adopting an attitude and policy towards them similar to what Reagen did with the Soviets.
To: Jeff Head
I think our rosy-scenario "free trade uber alles" crowd will sell them tungsten, iron, chrome, lead etc at cost. The stuff they will fire back at us, built with US blueprints given to them.

God bless and rest you my friend...and God's speed in your new assignment...I know you are happy, fully engaged in a greater work, and enjoying many, many happy reunions.
We shall all miss you dearly until we are reunited at the feet of our mutual Lord.
Until the greatest of Yorktowns then, when you return with Him in the sky.
To: Jeff Head
Wouldn't it be nice if he got to say "Hi" to your Dad ?
To: DLfromthedesert
I have faith that they will.
Because of Matt's help on my series, and my Dad's help (both of which are listed in the acknowledgments of each book), they knew quite a bit about each other, though they had never met.
There is no doubt in my mind that they will have that opportunity.
They were both great men...and still are, and we shall see them again in the good Lord's own time.
To: Jeff Head
Condolences Jeff... Words are no good at a loss like this, but prayers are, not for him, for you..
