It's hard to believe this is acutally an article in The New York Times. It's a long article but thought provoking.

The entire article seems to deal with the social consequences of promiscuity, AIDS, HIV, teenage pregnancy, condoms, norplant, oral sex as alternative, etc..

No mention of religion or religious tenets, prohibitions..
Religious belief doesn't seem to even enter into the picture, the conversation..

The lessons these kids have learned were learned the hard way.. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, dead from AIDS, either via drugs or sex, parents in jail, "single" mothers, teenage mothers, etc..
Have religious authorities, leaders, the religious community, so lost their way that no one is making an impact on these kids?

Do they HAVE to learn these lessons the "hard way"?
