The drop in teen pregnancies is the result of a combination of lots of factors. Religion is probably a large part of that, but so is a real rebirth of parenting in general, not least because many Gen Xers don't want what was done to them done to others.

You are so right. I have an idea that would stop teen pregnancy in it's tracks. If a girl under 21 got pregnant without marriage, the father, the father's parents and the girl's parents would all be required to apy child support until the baby turned 21. The girl and the boy would have demonstrated a lack of maturity by their actions and would be deemed minors until their 21st birthday. Their parents would be responsible for their education, safety and medical care just as they were when they were children.

Parents would lock down their kids so fast that society's head would spin. Kids would fear loosing their new-found adult freedoms and would approach life with more caution. I'll bet that NO parent would preach "just wear a condom, dear." They'd be screaming, "If you DARE have sex with ANYONE, I WILL make your life a living hell! I will NOT be responsible for your mistakes!" Withdraw all welfare with the exception of medical and dental care. Heck, with as many as 5 people paying child support and with the girl confined to her parents' home, welfare wouldn't be needed.
