Oh yeah, the Marine Band was there. They exited and in the mask, I didn't notice a whole bunch behind me. For a bit, I lifted the mask and asked if they took requests. I offered $20 if they'd play "Desperado". Kristinn suggested "Freebird" and I regreted that Sadam didn't have a lighter to hold up like at a rock concert.

The band major (enlisted) with his Mace (Latin for big stick you hit people with) passed carrying his "Busbey" hat, that big bear skin thing. I said to Kristinn and tgsltakoma, "Now that's a hat." We were kidding with them light heartedly. You could tell more than a few though we made a funny statement.

I'll let Kristinn tell you folks about the lady in the car who stopped for a bit.

The boss asked tgsltakoma not to take photos of his folks in Saddam's company and she respectfully cmpilied, but she did get that cool shot with the bus.

Probably saw as many of the hotel's regular guests as was did the Grid Iron attendees. Most were positive, only one that I can think of that were upset. One was a guy who from 50 yards away you could tell by body language was absolutely pissed. He'd stare, turn away and stare again. He finnaly satrted aclling over to me and I just gave him the "Peace Sign", two fingers for real. That caused him to stamp his foot reflexively, just as if a doctor hit him in the knee with the little hammer. Funny how they can dish it out, but they can't take it.

Sorry I could not make it this year.

Incidentally,Doc, I have Saddam's REAL sholderboards in our display cabinet. The boy found them in his Baghdad palace and brought them home. One of my most prized possessions.
