Bush campaign ads that fleetingly depict Ground Zero and a flag-draped stretcher are generating Democratic charges of "exploitation" of a national tragedy. Several weeks ago, President Bush donned a racing jacket and presided over the opening of NASCAR's Daytona 500, which similarly drew Democratic criticisms of "exploitation" of racing fans. Does anyone see a trend emerging? Frankly, this Democratic shtick of ranting about GOP "exploitation" is becoming both stale and predictable. Are the Democrats going to feign righteous indignation every time the Republicans engage in successful outreach to the public during this campaign season? Well, I sure hope so - It would clearly demonstrate that the Democrats are a bunch of churlish whiners.
The Democrats are carping about the Bush ads for one simple reason - They're intent on undermining President Bush's well-deserved reputation as leader par excellence in this post-September 11th world. If the Democrats think that they're going to silence the appealing message of President Bush's outstanding leadership in the aftermath of the terror attacks, then they're sadly mistaken. In fact, the concept of leadership is seen by many as the pivotal issue for this campaign season. Frankly, there is no way that we can ignore September 11th in this campaign since it's the defining event of the Bush presidency and reflects the overall zeitgeist of the early 21st century.
The Left-leaning crowd also cites emotional discomfort on the part of a few September 11th families that were "offended" by the Bush ads, but in truth the complaining individuals are long-time Democratic activists, according to Fox News Channel's Tony Snow. There is now evidence linking these disgruntles with "Peaceful Tomorrows" a group associated with the Tides Center and funded by Theresa Heinz

Bush was exploiting Martians when he gave that speech at NASA!
The question is, will people see through this and the dems self-destruct, or will it very gradually erode at him?

The Dim's response to everything has been shrill. Wonder what their response will be when they have a real issue to deal with? Someone should tell them to read about the boy who cried wolf one too many times.

I combined 2 of my posts from last week into one for my standard reply to the ad flap. Follows:
Why doesn't the media interview me? I could tell how offended I am by John Kerry's traitorous activities since coming home from Nam. I could discuss the fact that I have no idea where Kerry stands on any given issue at any given time since he appears to have no stand.
Though I feel for the families who lost someone on 9/11, the attacks are not their private property. The attacks were aimed at every American. I am sick of people acting like because they lost someone, this is private. Their loss is private but the attacks were not. I will never forget that it was an attack on me, my family, my friends, my nation. I take it personal as should every American.
If George W. Bush wants to use 9/11 in his campaign, that is his right. He was attacked too. His response to the attacks shows the character and courage his predecessor did not have when we were attacked so many times during those 8 dark years.
God Bless America and George W. Bush.

We Remember
We saw the look upon his face,
Through whispers he was told.
We knew he felt just what we felt,
We wouldnt sit here cold.
We knew this time that we would act,
And not just turn our head.
This time wed go and wed go big,
We wouldnt bomb some shed.
He called them faceless cowards,
He vowed well hunt them down.
We watched as he spoke to us all,
Sincerely, not some clown.
His eyes assured us hed not rest,
Until they paid the price.
Yes wed turn over every stone,
Until they were on ice.
He warned the battle would be long,
That many would forget.
That some would say, lets just move on,
Not him, his mind was set.
We backed him then, we back him now,
The fight must still go on.
We cant back down, we cant let up,
Until the threat is gone.
God Bless our troops as on they fight,
Each day for them we pray.
We thank them all, for all they do,
They are the best, we say.
We will support our President,
Hes proven he will stand.
Well vote for Bush this coming fall,
We will protect this land.

I think it's great. The more the 'rats whine about 9-11, the more the voters are reminded about it.

The Democrats are carping about the Bush ads for one simple reason - They're intent on undermining President Bush's well-deserved reputation as leader par excellence in this post-September 11th world. That, and the fact that when confronted with those images, liberals, fully aware that their policies brought about the disaster but incapable of accepting responsibility or feeling guilt, shamelessly allow projected anger to fill the void.

We all knew this type of Dem response to the ads was coming - regardless of the content. It is simply how they operate. Most will see through it.
Bush and his team need to be aware that this is the approach the Dems will take with every ad. Media planning needs to accomplished with this in mind. The ads will need to reach a maximum number of people in the shortest amount of time, rather than being rolled out market by market. Media campaigns may need to be national in scope right out of the gate. I don't know how this affects cost, but planning national rollouts might be effective, even if ads can't be targeted as well to specific voting blocks.
When people see the ads in advance, they form their own opinions, which certainly will be different than what the Dems hope to plant in the national consciousness via the news. The Dems will look foolish with each tirade and their efforts will be counterproductive.

Note that the media are not citing the left's exploitation of "grieving widows" that already have political leanings towards Democrats. Kerry's people are the oozing pus of hypocrisy.

Republicans ought to gage how much to run their Campaign ads by how much the Democrats shriek.
The louder the Dems get, the more time they should give the ads. Their reaction only shows how effective they are, not the other way around.
Why should the GOP let the Democrats and their Media shills set the contents of their Campaign?

I just mailed a $25.00 check to the President's reelection committee. I attached a note saying that while I don't have a lot of money, (one son just graduated from college and one is in his 3rd year of medical school), I will send them a check every month as long as they keep running ads like those that appeared last Thursday.
