"The Shield" is the vilest, nastiest, dirtiest, bloodiest show on TV.
And I love it.
That doesn't mean you have to feel the same way.
Some readers who take this review as a recommendation that they watch "The Shield" should also heed this warning: This show is not for people who get upset easily. These people should sample "The Shield" at their own risk.

This show rocks!
The Shield could pick up The Sopranos, beat it into a bloody pulp and kick it down the stairs.

Funny this show does not get more attention than The Sopranos; I would think more folks get USA than HBO. Most of the radio talk shows are just crazy for Sopranos, but no mention of this top-notch production.
I love this show! I sit mesmerized for the hour, admiring the actors, writers, the way it is filmed, etc.
It's on after 10pm and I have no problem with the violence or pittance of nudity. None of it seems gratutious as in some shows. I'm so pumped it's back on the air!

"Good cop, bad cop has gone home for the day, I'm a different kind of cop" This is the only series I will watch on network tv. The above is my favorite line from Vic, as he is about to "question" a child molesting scumbucket who is holding a child in hiding. He had the location of the child after a few minutes of "persuasion" with a rolled up phone book. There is very little political correct B.S. which is one of the reasons I like the show.

Rambo is my favorite motion picture cop show.
"The Shield" is my favorite cable TV cop show. My friends and I call it the 'crooked cop show'.

I've heard great things about this show. Methinks it might be a good time to check it out for myself.

"The Shield" is my favorite cable TV cop show. My friends and I call it the 'crooked cop show'. Best show out there right now. I haven't run across a Vic Mackey in real life yet (but I know they're out there). I have run across just about every other character in the show at some time or another.

This show rocks! ... The Shield could pick up The Sopranos, beat it into a bloody pulp and kick it down the stairs. Oh, I absolutely agree, dead! I LOVE this show. It is rare to find ensemble acting of such extraordinary high caliber. I think Vic is one of the most fascinating characters I've ever seen on TV. "The Sopranos" simply can't compare....
Other than news shows and The Simpsons, The Shield is the only thing I watch.

I have the first two seasons on DVD. If you haven't seen this show, you don't know what you're missing!

Thanx for the post. I'm hooked. FYI the network ran a full page ad in the LA Times today. Maybe they'll publicize it more. Didn't Chilkis get the emmy for the first season?

The Shield and the Sopranos are the only reason to even own a TV, drama wise.
