[history]
If the TV commercials that debuted last week are any indication, Americans can expect George W. Bush to run the most positive, uplifting presidential campaign since Ronald Reagan sought a second term 20 years ago.
In one ad, Bush assures listeners he understands the nation's entrepre- neurial spirit, then adds, "Americans are hardworking, decent, generous people. I'm optimistic about America because I believe in the people of America."

Bush needs run attack ads on Kerry now, before Kerry has a chance to define himself. I think they should play his Vietnam testimony interspersed with Vietnam war veterans talking about how he stereotyped them as baby-killers. Then end it with a voiceover, "John Kerry for president?

I'm going to turn in now and will be out till sometime in the afternoon, but then we can compare notes on what we both think the advantages are to go or not go negative.
Take care of yourself till then.

Absolutely!
Bush on the trail needs to be focused as the President and above it all...let the ADS do the blasting for now. Instead he is doing it backwards, personally attacking while his ads are mild and uplifting.
He opens himself up to the charges of negative campaigning, even though Kerry has been doing it for months. The press give Kerry a pass but will slam Bush for it.
Let the ads do the talking, imho.

That's good, I like that a lot. They should really do that, a series of ads like that, in fact. Oh would the media whores have their knickers in a twist over that one!
