That already happened when the American Spectator was investigated about alledged bribery of a federal witness. The mainstream press could have cared less, because it was a conservative publication on the hotseat.

If that case is any example, I can't see any effect on the press from their continued pursuit of Novak.

This is, of course, much ado about nothing. The only purpose for pursuing it is to wring out as much mileage as can be gotten out of it.

Cannot understand how it is this issue got so 'out of control' with even the Bush camp issuing defensive statements to the press.

From the very 'get-go'; the Liberal tongues wagging, could have been clipped.
