Susan Lindauer's Wacky Hometown

We knew that Takoma Park, Md., home of Saddam spy suspect and self-described "anti-war activist" Susan Lindauer, must be quite a place when wire services yesterday said it had "liberal views," something the media establishment normally won't admit.

Then the Democrats' favorite house organ, the New York Times, today called the suburb a "left-leaning enclave," again a surprise from a publication that considers the left to be the mainstream status quo from which any deviation is usually branded "right wing."

Wes Vernon, one of NewsMax's Washington correspondents, lives just a few miles from Takoma Park and gave us the scoop:

The city, a longtime hotbed of left-wing activism, some years ago declared itself a "nuclear-free zone.” Sadly, no terrorist around the world is known to have taken respectful notice of that designation. Nor, in the Cold War,did the old Soviet Union or its satellites promise to avoid bombing Takoma Park in the event of World War III.

Takoma Park was the home of the late Sammy Abbott, a prominent proudly self-proclaimed Marxist whose activities in the 1960s and thereafter covered everything from the Vietnam War to the environment.

Takoma Park is part of Democrat-dominated Montgomery County, itself the object of nationwide ridicule for attempts to outlaw smoking in one’s own home and one town's effort to ban Santa Claus. Even by that standard, Takoma Park is regarded as the farthest left part of the county.

Maybe this present-day municipal version of Rip Van Winkle could rename itself Coma Park.

At one time Takoma Park boasted more poets per square mile, than any other town in America. Funny is the town was built as a suburban alternative outpost to living in swampy DC weather during the late 1890's. It was settled by a large Seventh Day adventist community, home to a teaching hospital Washington Adventist. However, it became a blue collar town after the war II. It earned the nickname Tacky Park while Drudge was growing up there...alot of cars on the lawns and junk.

In the late 70's alot of hippies settled there for the low cost housing and architecural mix of Victorian and Craftsman style bungalows. By the 80's the real estate boon, imported the NGO yuppies....and the left wing media followed as the place became trendy. Let's just say Ralph Nader drew his largest support in Maryland from this town.

It's not surprising Takoma Park gets bad press, with resident nutjob lefties like Lindauer, Sammie Abbott, David Corn, Jamie Raskin, Esq. the norm rather than the exception nowadays.

But there are still a few of us conservatives dug in and trying to hold the line.

The place is horrible! The subway shouldn't even stop there! It's got lots of beautiful old Victorian houses and bungalows filled with mindless left wing tree huggers and Wiccans! It's so liberal there is a pall over the place.

Check out the Takoma Voice (www.Takoma.com) newspaper if you want to get a taste of the weirdness. The paper has an "Advice Goddess" who happens to run a fortune telling /tarot card reading business there. The classified ads will list counselors providing for such things as pet loss and same sex relationships. Of course the arborist is like a king that guards those little Takoma Park deities called "trees" elsewhere. If you're an illegal alien they hold you in high honor and will be working not only to get you a drivers license, but also a voter registration card. I imagine if you're a gay, lesbian or a transgendered illegal alien they build you a temple!

My advise to these liberal nuts is to stop congregating in nests like these. It's going to be too easy when we have to start rounding them up for the re-education camps.

I would never have thought a conservative could still reside in Takoma Park!

I just pictured in my mind that long ago the native Bolsheviks carrying pitchforks and sickles stormed their homes and laid waste to them. I have been wondering for a while why God hasn't brought fire and brimstone down on it like Sodom and Gomorrah! Now that I see there is a remnant that can still think, I will have to be kinder in my attitude toward the place. Out of respect for those living there behind enemy lines, serving truth, justice and the American way, I offer up a salute!

People look at our shirts from a distance and think, "Mother Earth. Cool!" And then when they get close enough to read the logo on the back, they have all kinds of different reactions, from uncontrollable twitching, gasps of "Oh...My...Goddess!", to cries of being profoundly offended by such a message.

Slight correction....the illegals are fine as long as they live in the apartment houses on and off Maple near rte 410. They like to keep their historic district lily white, that way they can observe the beautiful diversity from afar.

Rather than support the local public swimming pool, in the heart of the Latino quarter, residents like David Corn prefer driving an extra 1 1/2 miles to a private Silver Spring neighborhood pool.
