How could he have faked injuries? A sore ankle? Don't you have to have been shot? Where's the medic who would have treated him? I'd like to see those records opened, too. He hasn't got a leg to stand on, stonewalling like this.

I know someone who went back to their tent to retrieve the coffee pot and wound up getting shot. He received a purple heart.

An eggshell fragment.

NO you don't have to be shot, you simply have to show injury however small during a combat situation.
Say for instance that Mr. Kerry had gotten a large sliver from a piece of wood that had hit him when hit by a bullet.
He could put in for a purple heart and and with a sympathetic officer he would have gotten it.
I heard today that he got his silver star for shooting a guy in the head that had been hit with about 50 rounds of machine gun fire. Big hero there.
Alos today that he had killed a vietnameese baby while in battle.

He hasn't got a leg to stand on, stonewalling like this. The most damning evidence that I see is that it appears that he nominated himself for each of these medals. Being an officer, this was something that he could do. This is also the most insulting to most servicemen, especially in light of many that deserved the recognition, that actually lost limbs in fact (thrice amputee politician in Georgia comes to mind) who have not gotten the purple heart. My own father should have gotten the purple heart for being hospitalized in WWII but was not nominated.
There seems to be good reason this so called veteran doesn't want us to see his records. One is that the medical info will be so light, since he never missed a day for any of these 'injuries' and two, it will come to light that in his 'self nomination' as well as non-injuries, took advantage of his rank wrongly.
