[history]
Perini Corp., a Massachusetts construction company partially owned by the investment firm of California Sen. Dianne Feinstein's husband, landed a $500 million contract Friday to repair southern Iraq's electricity grid.
Perini is one of several American firms mobilized to restore Iraq's electricity under a series of contracts issued by the Pentagon this week. On Friday, Washington Group International won a $500 million contract to restore power in northern Iraq.

Can we now expect Senator Feinstein to shut up about Halliburton?

We said we'd let the Germans and maybe the Frenchies in for a piece...

This kind of stuff should be stopped, and on both sides of the aisle. The corruption in this country is reaching banana republic levels. Government workse and elected politicians should have their spouse's assets should also be in a blind trust and they or anyone in there families should not be allowed to bind on anything remotely connected to a government contract.

How many judges do we get out of this deal?
A spokesman for Blum Capital Partners said the investment firm plans to reduce its stake in Perini to less than 14 percent.
It's called 'cashing out'.
"I'm not knowledgeable of any efforts he's made on the company's behalf," Band said, "and that's the way it should be."
He doesn't have to make any efforts, his wife does.

Good luck with that, there.
Pat Gray, an inimitable and hilarious morning host here in Houston, plays the Mordor theme whenever a caller mentions Halliburton, and the Imperial Theme from "Star Wars" when callers bring up Enron.

"He's an investor," Blicksilver said. "He has no say in any of this stuff. "
I find it interesting that when it comes to Halliburton, this type of approach was NOT used when referring to Dick Cheney. He apparently still controls EVERY aspect of Halliburton, even though he has not been with them for several years.
