I can't see where a 14 second delay makes any [negative] difference whatsoever.
Why the outrage?

Exactly.
It used to be standard practice that any 'live' event on TV and radio had a few seconds delay.
Broadcasters got lazy and technology improved, so they began dropping it.
The few seconds delay is negligible anyway. If you ever simultaneously watch a stream via internet, listen via radio, and watch via tv, or watch feeds of the same event on two different networks, you will find them out of sync by a few seconds.
So, why gripe if you hear a bleep. Quit whining. Geez. There are more important things in life than a 7 second 'live' event delay on TV.
