Victims of Sunday's suicide attack

By Haaretz Staff

Gil Abutbul

38-year-old Ashdod resident Gil Abutbul was married, a father of two. He was the goalie of the M.S. Ashdod veterans soccer team. His group was scheduled to play on Monday, a match that was cancelled due to the terror attack.

Ophir Damari

31-year-old Rehovot resident Ophir Damari was the best friend of Moshe Hendler, who was also killed in Sunday's suicide attack. Damari's sister, Meirav says her brother worked at one of the workshops in the port. She said that as soon as she heard Hendler was killed she began worrying about her brother. Damari was married, a father of two young children. He served his army service in the artillery corps and signed up for an additional year. He as described as a man who engendered peace.

Mazal Marciano, 30

Mazal Marciano worked as the marketing manager for the Nehemia Lahovitz meat products company. Company owner Gal Lahovitz said the suicide bomber had detonated his device right behind where Marciano was sitting. Lahovitz described his employee as a dedicated and diligent worker who had contributed much to the company in her 10 years with it. "We knew this round of terror attacks would reach us too, and every time we saw pictures of terror attacks on the television, we felt it would happen to us one day," one of Mazal's brothers said Sunday night. Mazal Marciano leaves behind a husband and two sons, aged 2 and 5. She was buried at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashdod cemetery.

Danny Asulin, 51

Danny Asulin, 51, was married to Negba and is also survived by daughter Adva, 22, and son, Nes, who is about to be drafted into the IDF. Asulin worked in the mechanical equipment department of Ashdod Port for 30 years. Two weeks ago he returned from a continuing education program in Germany to learn about new equipment and he was slated to fly to Finland in two weeks' time for another work-related course. Asulin's brother-in-law Claude said, "He was a special person and the smile never left his face. He always gave help to whomever needed it."

Morris Tubul, 30

Morris Tubul was one of the casualties of Sunday's bombings at the Ashdod harbor. He spent the day Sunday with two players from the local Ashdod soccer team, Haim and David Revivo. Haim Revivo left for Tel Aviv; Tubul remained in Ashdod with David. David Revivo stated: "We had lunch, and then I went to practice with the team, and he went to work. While we were working out, we heard the two bomb explosions. We stopped the practice ... Later I heard that Morris - one of the greatest guys in the world - had been killed. I can't stop crying. We were roommates. He was only 30."

Moshe Hendler, 29

Moshe Hendler, 29, was killed while on his way to work at Maman at Ashdod Port. Hendler, married and the father of a two-year-old girl, was born and raised in Rehovot. Hendler's friends said he loved and identified with his work and could adapt to any social situation.

Avi Avraham, 33

Avi Avraham, 33, is survived by his wife Etti, 27, whom he married just four months ago. Avraham worked for the past eight years as a crane electrician in the Ashdod port. His widow Etti said she heard about the attacks when a friend of Avraham's called her looking for him. "I tried to find Avraham on his phones but he didn't answer. I feared something happened to him and I drove to the port, but because of the police barricades I wasn't able to get in. When I returned, the calls started and my fears were strengthened."

Zion Dahan, 30, Ashdod

Zion Dahan was laid to rest on Monday afternoon at the Ashdod cemetery.

Avraham Pinhas Zilberman, 46, Tel Aviv

Pini Zilberman, a former restaurateur and taxi driver who lived in Tel Aviv, was a driver for a haulage company based in the Ashdod seaport. He leaves behind a wife, Racheli, and a six-year-old daughter. He was laid to rest Monday at the Yarkon cemetery.

Any pictures of the Serbians riding on the train that got blown up from 30,000 feet when Clinton was President? Any pictures of innocent Iraqis who died during our "light show" of Shock and Awe?

How about the pictures of the Kurds who were gassed by Saddam? Or the mass graves filled by Saddam? How about of you during the operation that firmly placed your head into your lower colon?

Your comment has nothing to do with innocent Israelis being killed by crazed "palestinians." It really doesn't.

It would be interesting to hear your reasons why you did not want to have these pictures and obituaries published.

Here are pics of the Kurds gassed by Saddam. I just hope George Bush wakes up and stops appeasing the Arabs and Turkey. There should be a Kurdish state. The Kurds support America. Here are the pics. http://www.kdp.pp.se/chemical.html

Your comments may have a place somewhere in FR, but not in the context of a thread about innocent Israelis being murdered. Your post is a non sequitur. That's probably the main reason people are challenging you -- because your comments really are irrelevant right now.

I joined in 2000, so I didn't know you until now. But your assertion that Bush and Cheney lied to go to war in Iraq is absurd- not only on this thread but the others you've posted on today.

The Bush Administration made SEVERAL factual statements, including but not limited to the violation of the treaty to end the Gulf War. The case was made without the WMD claim. But if that is the only part of the war in Iraq you focus on, then I guess you'd think he lied.

why stop there... lets have Katie Couric holding the hand of the goat herder in Afghanistan who has lost his hearing and had his whole family wiped out by a 'daisy cutter'? We didn't broadcast our bombing locations.. nor did he have a cell phone to get warning. He was every bit as uninvolved as the people in the WTC.

you really should get on c-span and look for Ritter tapes. He spoke just prior to the invasion.. and yes, he said that Cheney had lied outright. Cheney said they had WMD and Ritter knew there was no evidence. In fact the evidence was the opposite.

Now I'm going to ahve to boogie.

If you don't see the difference between casualties in war and terrorism, I wonder if you belong here at all...

All you saw was his final comment.

How about pictures of gassed Kurds, or body-filled mass graves?

What about the 343 firefighters, and almost 3000 innocent americans?

How about these: Do you remember this?

Do you think the Palestinian Murderers are right in what they do?

Why do you have a problem with pictures of dead INNOCENT Israelis being posted here?
