Camil only went into te Marines to keep from being sent to jail. He went to see Jane Fonda when she spoke at the university at Gainesville because he had never seen a movie star. After hearing her speak Camil realized that he was a war criminal. (He hadn't been bothered by the war before that.)
Fonda paid Camil's way to the "Winter Soldier Investigation" where he paid her back by giving the most outrageous show-stopping testimony. (Which Kerry later referenced in his testimony before the Senate.)
After Kerry left the VVAW (whenever that was) Camil became even more of a force within the group. It was his idea to try to disrupt the GOP convention in 1972. But by then the FBI had already starting keeping an eye on him (maybe because of his assassination ideas) and he and seven others were arrested for variuos nefarious plots. They beat the rap, however.
Camil later had more run-ins with the law, including being shot (he claims) by a fed. He also got busted for cocaine, but again managed to beat the rap. And I'm just hitting the highlights here.

That's what the guy on Fleming's show was talking about. He mentioned camil was going to work for hanoi john's campaign. Doesn't it speak volumes about kerry's character taking this creep on board?
