It is my view that ceding American sovereignty to the UN has both a psychological component (traceable to the 60s neoliberal's arrested development), as well as a socioeconomic one.

You're right about the psychological association to the ceding of power, but that's subconscious. The left doesn't admit that they hate America, that they are afraid of the might of the world's only super power. They just admit that they hate capitalism. They think that unrestrained capitalism is a perversion of the intent of the constitution and that the globalization demands a more updated interpretation of the constitution which takes into consideration the concerns of other countries.
